Agree with the Hanro suggestions. Assuming he is coming, how about Gopperth as vc?

IF Gopperth is coming I hope he is only used when we are short of of a 10 or 12 as we have younger players who need to play regularly

To be honest, and this is not a knock at Gopperth, but we have Kelly, Porter, Scott and Moroni that I would rather see in the starting line up or on the bench. So Gopperth only gets near the team due to internationals and injuries. I'd just rather see development, and Gopperth is and old/experienced place filler who will be useful on the training pitch.

I feel the same way about Wigglesworth as well, nothing against him, I'd just rather see JVP unless injury/Ints....

IMO since the game has become very much about the 23 man squad VC is less of an issue. It’s all about developing that leadership group of maybe 6 or 7 who can step up when required.
I would imagine that Gopperth will step right into that group, but with Pollard and Kelly around not the strongest 15

In our 34 games this season we've had the following captain us.

Genge 16
Liebenberg 6
Ford 3 (+1 for cancelled game vs Bordeaux)
JVP 3
Wigglesworth 2
Youngs 1
Robinson 1
Taute 1
Youngs 1

Plus Van Wyk captained most of the PRC game after Taute injured
Used to run around with an 11, 14 or 15 on my back.

Hanro gets my vote every day, closely followed by Montoya. Wells for me is good vc material. In the backs I guess Gopperth or Pollard could both step in to a leadership group.

Lots of future captains though in our younger talent! The future is bright if we can hold on to them.

We need a skipper who's on side with the ref at all times which puts Coley out of the picture! Liebenberg will be excellent and we have a great choice of existing vc's and also the new ones coming in.

How many captains do we need? Club captain? Team captain? And 3 vice captains? Jesus.

Club captain very much an honoury role, I would say 3 vice captains is about right as you never know who will be on the pitch when the captain isn’t. Far from being overkill

I like DC as club captain. Either him or BY.
