I thought that as well, some not very subtle digs, whilst seemingly being above it all.Dr H Flashman MBE wrote: ↑Wed Nov 17, 2021 12:41 pm Loving the “ fully committed to finishing his time at Leicester Tigers in front of big crowds at Mattioli woods Welford Road”..nice poignant reminder of the team with the largest fan base… Borthwick clearly knew it was coming so I bet we are are all sorted for a fly half…let the dust settle on this and make our own announcement..

To win is not as important as playing with style!

Will be interesting to see what happens with Ford in terms of his position at the club. When players have announced they are leaving borthwicks approach to them seems to have been either to get rid of them early or to bench them which was seen with lavinini he’s a world class player in a crucial position which will probably make it harder for borthwick to do that and less sensible but we now have a guy who has walked away mid season playing for us not questioning his commitment just interested to see what borthwicks reaction will be

Ford will still want to beat every other team and win the league. Thats what you play for. As long as he's playing well and wants to win, pick him.

He is a pro.
Would any of us have doubted his commitment so far this season?
Presumably he hasn't given up on England or he would have opted for France.

As long as he’s playing well, but if he goes off the boil I expect him to be hooked

Not sure the cap works etc, but for me I’d be happy if the cost saved by losing Ford is used to secure the long term future of our ‘new’ stars…
Wiese, Steward, Martin, MvS, Hanro, Kelly, JvP etc. With the cap reducing, and players having already taken cuts, lock down the cornerstone of the club. We’ll be fine

IMO we need a starting 10, our game revolves around good field position

Simmonds or Lozowski are the realistic English options who won't break the bank and will come in at far less than the money Ford is on now so will give us some wiggle room to use to give improved contracts to those who have had breakthrough seasons in the last couple of years. It's as important that we keep them as it is that we replace Ford with another slick operatorScott1 wrote: ↑Wed Nov 17, 2021 1:06 pmThis! I quite like the Dan Biggar option, if available

The overall Sale Squad will be interesting to see next year if somewhere in the region of 20% of their salary cap is taken up by For and Manu. Does not leave much for squad depth when those 2 are away for large chunks of the season.
Anyway, best of luck to Ford. He has always put in his all for us and I think that it is no coincidence that he has played most of his best rugby in a Tigers shirt.

When do Sale announce Mike Ford joining the 'team'?
Faithless is he that says farewell when the road darkens.
