Wonder if the 2 preseason games have given Falcons a advantage in these early rounds.

Makes me worried about not having any preparation...RagingBull wrote: ↑Sat Nov 21, 2020 1:47 pm Wonder if the 2 preseason games have given Falcons a advantage in these early rounds.
Used to run around with an 11, 14 or 15 on my back.

Well I guess at least we are not playing a team with some games underneath their belt.TigerFeetSteve wrote: ↑Sat Nov 21, 2020 1:53 pmMakes me worried about not having any preparation...RagingBull wrote: ↑Sat Nov 21, 2020 1:47 pm Wonder if the 2 preseason games have given Falcons a advantage in these early rounds.

Was that a yellow card? I couldn't see any definitive head on head contact.

I'm usually one of the first to defend the cards around high tackles but I couldn't see what Ewels did wrong there...
No, not that one!
Remember, whatever you do to the smallest of the backs you do to his prop, and you can't avoid the rucks and mauls forever...
I know you don't like it when I boo him but how else will he know he's wrong?

Great Newcastle win away at Bath 12- 19. Well played - like Tigers of old

According to ref Ewels took insufficient care, should have lowered his head. I thought the TMO wanted it most and was itching to give a decision.

Re: GP Round 1 thread
There was one angle that clearly showed Ewels making head to head contact with some force. It's his responsibility as a tackler to make sure he doesn't do that. Good decision from the officials, although it seemed a struggle to get there with a strange reluctance to use the one angle that showed the contact.

The above link shows the framework for refereeing decisions on high tackles:
High tackle. Contact by tackler's shoulder or head → high degree of danger = red (see mitigations), low degree of danger = yellow (see mitigations).
Brilliant performance from Newcastle, proof that determination beats talent.
