Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2020/21 SQUAD/TRANSFERS/CONTRACT THREAD EPISODE IV: A New Hope
Are we still expecting any further squad additions between end of this season and start of next? Ot will the additions of Montoya, Wiesse and Moroni likely be it?
Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2020/21 SQUAD/TRANSFERS/CONTRACT THREAD EPISODE IV: A New Hope
Montoya is signed from 2021/22. So will be the season after next on the current deal. There are rumours he might join earlier though if an agreement can be reached between all parties.FrontRowUnionMember wrote: ↑Fri Aug 14, 2020 10:50 am Are we still expecting any further squad additions between end of this season and start of next? Wiese and Moroni are due for next season though thankfully!

It will be interesting to see what happens in the rugby championship - will the games go ahead at all if so in front of crowds or behind closed doors?
If they don't go ahead will some of the players arrive earlier than expected? If so, will they be able to play this season if we have spent our salary cap or will they have to wait until next season when other contracts end?

Huw Jones coming on a two year deal according to the Ruck (for what it's worth)

With the signings of Moroni, Scott the Australians and the already here Taute and Sab. I doubt that we’ll be signing Jones without other people leaving and I’m also not sure that the budget will allow it. So I doubt this is trueTheTigerKing wrote: ↑Tue Aug 25, 2020 10:56 am Huw Jones coming on a two year deal according to the Ruck (for what it's worth)

Certainly interesting based on our new centres, Scott, Moroni, Taute - add that the long term options of Hardwick, Porter, Kelly - seems a bit overkill in my view (especially them all being internationals). Though take Ruck with a pinch of salt.TheTigerKing wrote: ↑Tue Aug 25, 2020 10:56 am Huw Jones coming on a two year deal according to the Ruck (for what it's worth)
Ruck also claimed we were looking around Liam Williams during the pay cut negotiations with Scarlets - how true this is seems unlikely though.

Ruck do seem to operate on the policy of "throw enough muck" so I would take it with a pinch of salt

Moroni can play wing just as well as 13 so signing another centre wouldn’t be such a crazy idea.

Jones is a talented player and given his form's dropped he might be looking for a lower contract. At the same time I'd like to see our squad go more down the line of Saints/Sale of having a smaller senior squad with lots of quality in it, then using versatility and the development squad to fill out depth when needed.
Murimurivalu, van Wyk and Moroni is a lot of talent still due to arrive in the outside backs.
Gone: Manu, May, Veainu, Holmes, Thompstone, Eastmond, Reid, Viljeon, Thomas
Signed: Scott, Nadolo, van Wyk, Murimurivalu, Henry, Porter, Potter
Still more outgoing than replaced but the cap has come down as well so difficult to predict where we might be. Wages have dropped across the board in the Premiership, the WRU and SRU will presumably have no choice but do the same long term as well.
I'm really excited to see what Freddie Steward can do at fullback tomorrow. It will be interesting to see how David Williams does alongside Nadolo as well.

It looks like Murimurivalu has landed in the country judging by his Instagram stories.
2 weeks quarantine so available from the 8th September (if fully fit)?

Our Georgian hooker is proudly on the Twitter page at WR sporting a beard that should cause the rest of the squad to shave, your not going to beat that unless the Polar Bear goes full Henry VIII again.
To win is not as important as playing with style!
