Been rumoured to be looking for a prop, centre and winger. No real names banded around other than tighthead Luan de Bruin. Would imagine we’d want them in before the start of the season.

That might be good news, providing it's full time.

Seems as though Luan de Bruin is joining us on a season long deal, before joining Edinburgh on a 3year contract.

Shame we couldn’t get him long term as he looks a good player; would be useful for this season though - allows a good rotation with Leatigaga, Gigena, Cole, Heyes, Genge (when he’s not with England) and de Bruin.

Should this happen (another departure) , the new coaching set up that we were seemingly all lauding not too long ago will have been well and truly shredded. The new season is approx 2 weeks away , we already have to find both new Attack and Scrum coaches. The last thing we need is more change and upheaval unless absolutely necessary. The fact that Mike Ford is even a candidate says enough and speaks volumes , let him stand or fall here and give him an opportunity.Same goes for the team itself and the rest of the new and incoming staff.

Seemingly heading rapidly toward senility .....Not long or far to go now , in fact, getting worse daily.....

We have some good props coming up though that will hopefully gain some meaningful high level experience soon if the Championship does indeed recommence (however it needs government funding to cover the costs of tests).

Well another season and Whitcombe will be 22 and hopefully ready for a spot in the senior squad.
Guess also might be coming up to more judgment on Dimen next season.

and if they are not ready just look to sign another 1 year deal prop. That's the beauty of having the prop group we have currently.
Although the worry is that we have 4 props that are either in the international squad or on the fringe.

Being linked to a job by a journo doesnt make you a candidate, just they have a name the journo thinks you'll have heard of.

Totally agree - I would point out that MF is just one of 9 suggestions for the role. IMHO the role of defence coach is his best fit and I deffo do not want any more changes in our coaching team UNLESS Steve wants it. I would love him to have all the people he believes in as part of the coaching set up. I know some may not be available but it is vital we back him with the staff he wants.
Hehehehehehehehe

So this off season we have
Signed Luan de Bruin to cover Genge
Signed Richard Wigglesworth to cover Youngs
Signed Joaquín Díaz Bonilla to cover Ford (Granted we got lucky that he couldn't join up with Argentina)

Really on paper the most prepared we have looked in terms of covering England players.

I still have some worry about the outside backs with no Moroni, Murimurivalu and Nadolo for the start of season though.

I'm guessing Cole will be with us for now barring a big injury crisis.

Is Luan de Bruin on SA's radar?
Used to run around with an 11, 14 or 15 on my back.

Yeh I wasn't including Cole for that reason.
I'm pretty sure he is on their radar but south africa are pretty stacked for props.

Couldn't agree more. IF this happens, I would be a pretty hacked off Ellis Genge, Ben Youngs etc. Club in meltdown. No competent coaching set up in place for years. Borthwick arrives in, Experience, ability, stability. Two weeks before start of season - scrum coach gone - attack coach gone - defence coaches name in the ring to go - unless Borthwick wants this to happen does not reflect well. Does it say anything about Murphy?

Might be worth taking a few pinches of salt with this Ford-Wales speculation. The journalist lists "a selection of the potential candidates" - i.e. a list of people who might be considered by Wales. No assertion at all that any of them are being considered or would be interested. The final name he lists is Sean Edwards...

He describes Mike Ford's most recent experience as "spells with Dallas Griffins and Germany". It sounds like he hasn't actually heard that Ford joined Leicester and is currently employed.

In short, it's a piece of idle speculation based on shoddy research and zero inside info.
