Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2020/21 SQUAD/TRANSFERS/CONTRACT THREAD Part 2
Our biggest issues have been in the Coaching and Backroom staff in recent seasons.
Whilst the playing personnel is clearly important I'm more excited by what's been done in that regard.

Unless we run the risk of him signing a long term deal elsewhere and that OTY will likely hang up his boots and head for the tractor at the end of the extension he signed this season.Leicestertinytiger wrote: ↑Wed Jun 24, 2020 4:19 pm Really hope that Alemanno is still coming in as the rumoured Puma signing. Would give us good strength in depth in the pack.
4. Lavanini, Enever
5. Alemanno, Green
6. Liebenberg, Wells, Lewis
We already have 4 senior hookers so really wouldn’t be any point in adding another.

Fingers crossed.RagingBull wrote: ↑Wed Jun 24, 2020 4:08 pm Marcos Kremer heavily linked to Stade.
Would that be helpful to Lavanini rumours?

Think you're mixing up Alemanno and Montoya there, crumbie? Montoya is the hooker we've been chatting to for a while about replacing Youngs long term but who has the option of an early release from his Jaguares contract now.longlivethecrumbie wrote: ↑Wed Jun 24, 2020 5:16 pmUnless we run the risk of him signing a long term deal elsewhere and that OTY will likely hang up his boots and head for the tractor at the end of the extension he signed this season.Leicestertinytiger wrote: ↑Wed Jun 24, 2020 4:19 pm Really hope that Alemanno is still coming in as the rumoured Puma signing. Alemanno is the second row. Usually the Pumas bench option behind Guido Petti and Lavanini these days but Alemanno is still a very good international second row. Also a really strong lineout leader which Tigers are direly in need of.
I'd take both at Tigers in a heartbeat. Montoya and Mamukashvili would be a leap forward compared to the form of our hookers for the last couple of years.
Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2020/21 SQUAD/TRANSFERS/CONTRACT THREAD Part 2
I agree with this, although it'd be nice to make some great international signings if the new coaches do what we hope they can do, then the squad we had should do well.

We can always loan Clare if necessary should the Puma indeed be Montoya.

I have on good authority that the Puma we’re signing is Juan Martin Hernandez...

I am sorry but not sure about that. If I am wrong I apologise but why sign a 37 year old whose preferred position is fly'-half but who can play further out in midfield/full back, when we have the players we have in that area along with new signings.

Chris Egerton suggesting Montoya is done deal
Maybe next Summer had to be this summer or miss the option all together
Hope he’s got some European long lost relatives
Or an unknown English grandparent

Montoya would be an excellent signing. Top top player. I would be delighted to see him in a Tigers shirt.
Enever? Never heard of him, so I'll reserve judgement. A lot of our best signings have been lesser known Southern hemisphere players so i wouldn't write him off just because he hasn't got many caps. That said, it looks like he's only played 31 times in Super Rugby over the last 8 years - meaning either he's been injured a lot or isn't very highly rated and just had a purple patch leading to 2 caps a few years back.
Harry Potter's highlights reel looks strong, but they always do. A lot of his breaks seem to come from running directly at, and bumping off, weak tacklers. I'm not sure he'll find that possible at Premiership level and he's certainly not built like Manu, so he might need to add a lot more nuance to his game. I look forward to watching him develop.
Time will tell.

Sorry everyone, but according to these rumours JMH will not be coming for at least one more year. Sacre bleu!
