'rubbish "our illustrious CEO".strawclearer wrote: ↑Wed Dec 11, 2019 10:56 amIf it's true that Bakewell has gone and if communicating it is so easy, one wonders whether there may be a reason for the present silence. What if we wait and see instead of rushing to rubbish "our illustrious CEO" without any evidence whatsoever and based solely on our own assumptions?Traveller wrote: ↑Wed Dec 11, 2019 10:03 am The BBC report that Mark Bakewell has left with immediate effect. Only Leicester Tigers in its current form could botch the simplest of pieces of communication. Other clubs seem to be capable of communicating effectively. What is so difficult?
"Can confirm X has left the club, we thank him for his contribution and wish him the very best of luck. In the short term y will be taking over his responsibilities. Our intention is to update supporters on the coaching team in the very near future. The club also want to take this opportunity to acknowledge the speculation in the press concerning the current England forwards coach Steve Borthwick. Whilst we are very conscious that supporters are interested in developments at the club and ............., much as we would like to........."
It might be bland, but comms are about acknowledging that any organisation has a variety of legitimate stakeholders who need to be communicated with in order for the organisation to function effectively. Putting fingers in ears and shouting "blah, blah, blah" is not professional comms.
No doubt communications and PR will be another area of the club for which our illustrious CEO Simon Cohen does not have responsibility.
Please. Take the date on which Mr Cohen became CEO. Plot the trajectory of Leicester Tigers since that date using any KPI you want to use. Then tell me I am wrong to imply that my instinctive admiration for him should be tempered by the actual performance of the club for which he is (and I will spell it out in capital letters) CHIEF - EXECUTIVE - OFFICER. .
No doubt the response will be "but he isn't responsible for that".
Crisis management comms for beginners a) acknowledge the crisis b) over respond. c) over communicate.
Re: Mark Bakewell - gone? (Rumour)
The clubs comms are as poor as just about every other aspect of the organisation at present. Behind the times. Comms are often challenging because of contracts / personal / personnel stuff which never falls neatly into line.TigerBoy1880 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 11, 2019 10:11 amYou’ve asked what could be so difficult but then have tried to answer the question yourself. Tigers will announce what is happening when everything is ready to be announced.Traveller wrote: ↑Wed Dec 11, 2019 10:03 am The BBC report that Mark Bakewell has left with immediate effect. That is why professional people are paid to do a professional job. The comms are just a symptom. Tell you what lets get an ex-Tiger in to consult on the communications and PR.

Craig Newby on Twitter:
'Yet again another sacking mid season. This demonstrates the clubs lack of planning and development from the top down.
A knee jerk reaction to wall paper over the grand canon cracks that are apparent for all to see but the club themselves.'
'When will this stop and someone sort it out properly so the club can regain some respect and integrity, off and on the field?'

I just see Aston Villa and Lerner when looking at our current plight. Bumbling along until we are sold or relegated or both!

But that wouldn’t suit a lot of conspiracy theories on here

Exactly what are these conspiracy theories?

Re: Mark Bakewell - gone? (Rumour)
I for one believe that Newby has overreacted. For all we know, Bakewell left of his own will?
Formerly of Burbaaage (not Inkleh), now up north at uni
Re: Mark Bakewell - gone? (Rumour)
Maybe Newby knows something. Maybe he's just not a fan of the current leadership.
Either way, for Bakewell to leave now isn't the best outcome. If he was sacked, I'd hope there's a good reason - I.e. Borthwick is coming in sooner than expected, or he committed some kind of serious misconduct. If he chose to go, that's not great either and is likely yet another sign of disharmony within the club.
Either way, the timing of events seems strange. Shouldn't be surprised though, after all this is a club that sacked a head coach after the first game of a season. Even Premiership football clubs don't do that.

Nothing on Tigers' twitter about it, just a load of Christmas community stuff and an advert for coconut water. It's as if the club haven't registered that we live in an information age and they only make themselves look silly waiting two weeks to announce what everybody knows today.

Re: Mark Bakewell - gone? (Rumour)
It could just be as simple as Bakewell wanting to leave now with the SH preseason about to get going soon, rather than hang around for 3 months just to get replaced when/if Borthwick arrives.Tiglon wrote: ↑Wed Dec 11, 2019 12:33 pm Maybe Newby knows something.
