In my opinions, Maks van Dyk is not what I would deem a star signing, he was a only a loanee at Harlequins...

Agreed. If Tigers are looking at Luan de Bruin as a 3rd choice tighthead to rotate with Heyes then Chiefs can fit in van Dyk as a 3rd choice tighthead to rotate with Street.

Re: Transfers and Rumours Non-Tigers 2019-20
There’s a highlight reel on De Bruin and he plays both sides. Having both him and Leatigaga able to do that would help significantly, assuming the rumour is true and we are looking at him.

Agreed, he'd be a good signing. Potentially a longer term option as well at 27-years old. Coley wont go on forever, the better Gigena and Leatigaga get the more offers they will get overseas (and they will cost more the better they get). Bristol will be sniffing around Genge when his recently signed contract is up as well. It's nice having such strength at prop that other sides/leagues will be eyeing them up though.FrontRowUnionMember wrote: ↑Thu Nov 05, 2020 12:29 pm There’s a highlight reel on De Bruin and he plays both sides. Re: Transfers and Rumours Non-Tigers 2019-20
Another prop who can legitimately play both sides would be well worth having, he looks a pretty big unit as well. Hopefully this will mean more Leatigaga covering loosehead and less at tighthead where he doesn't look quite so good at scrum time.
We will need to look at how many games Coley is playing as well. The bloke is a machine but he's heading into mid thirties we can't expect him to start every week indefinitely.

Luan De Bruin , if the rumors are true , would be an astute acquisition. Not only versatile , but versatile with ability and power.Front row wise we are fortunate with what we have ( on paper at least) as De Bruin is probably better than a third choice.
Seemingly heading rapidly toward senility .....Not long or far to go now , in fact, getting worse daily.....

Rumor from both 'The Ruck' and 'The Rugby Paper' concerning Hamish Watson:

Marcus Smith is apparently on Lyon’s wish list to replace Jonathan Wisniewski whose contract expires at the end of this season.

Would probably be a poor move for him. Takes him out of international consideration and into a team where's replacing a tactically strong veteran where he is almost the polar opposite. It is at least a strong team where he'd be protected though so with the right coach it could work but the French league is brutally physical.Robespierre wrote: ↑Mon Nov 09, 2020 3:47 pm Marcus Smith is apparently on Lyon’s wish list to replace Jonathan Wisniewski whose contract expires at the end of this season.

On the other hand, as he's currently down Eddie's pecking order, a couple of seasons experience with Lyon in the Top14 would be rather good and then come back a more complete player and push for an England place (and earn a few hundred thousand euros too!)sam16111986 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 09, 2020 4:46 pmWould probably be a poor move for him. Is he under international consideration though? Farrell, Ford and Umaga seem to be the favourites, and turning down money in France on the off chance of breaking into the England squad may be a bold move. Depends on his motivation I suppose.sam16111986 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 09, 2020 4:46 pmWould probably be a poor move for him. Honestly I would be a logical move IMO.
If Farrell and Ford wasn't a thing I would agree I wouldn't suggest moving.
But both Faz and Ford are Eddie fav's and chances of any player getting meaningful game time before the rwc with them around is low.

Yeah the ideal scenario is that he heads over there, plays for two or three years and gains both experience in the French league and top tier European competition whilst adding some serious Euros to his bank balance.Robespierre wrote: ↑Mon Nov 09, 2020 4:57 pmOn the other hand, as he's currently down Eddie's pecking order, a couple of seasons experience with Lyon in the Top14 would be rather good and then come back a more complete player and push for an England place (and earn a few hundred thousand euros too!)sam16111986 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 09, 2020 4:46 pmWould probably be a poor move for him. How often though have we seen a young player leave their comfort zone too early and go on to struggle. France is a very physical league and he certainly isn't a like for like replacement for the player he's replacing. It won't be quite so straight forward as he's a talented player and they are a good team.
Umaga is overrated and heavily reliant on a guiding hand from his 12. The fact he didn't make the Italy game with Furbank or Slade the back up fly half option is hardly an endorsement of Eddie's belief in him. I suspect he will be capped soon to tie him to England more than an indication he's in serious contention.

Interesting point of view. Eddie may indeed turn to him for the 6N if the experiment with Umaga goes titzupp!sam16111986 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 09, 2020 5:58 pmYeah the ideal scenario is that he heads over there, plays for two or three years and gains both experience in the French league and top tier European competition whilst adding some serious Euros to his bank balance.Robespierre wrote: ↑Mon Nov 09, 2020 4:57 pmOn the other hand, as he's currently down Eddie's pecking order, a couple of seasons experience with Lyon in the Top14 would be rather good and then come back a more complete player and push for an England place (and earn a few hundred thousand euros too!)sam16111986 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 09, 2020 4:46 pm

Agree with RagingBull, if it was just between him, Umaga and Simmonds then I doubt he would move abroad. However, just how well is someone going to have to play to get ahead of Ford and Farrell in the next few years? Smith is unlikely to do that playing for Quins in mid table and never getting near the business end of the European Cup.
A few years in France, learn, develop, take the money and come back to a stronger English club to push for RWC 27.
