Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2019/20 SQUAD/TRANSFERS/CONTRACT THREAD Part 1
The players may not have been good enough but there were far too many basic positional errors in defence that should not have occurred even at a level well below premiership.
That's I don't believe is down to the players entirely. It is down to a lack of understanding of who is where and who is the first up tackler. That is down to coaching.

I don't think its Osman Dimen, whoever it is looks kind of islander-ish to mesam16111986 wrote: ↑Tue Jul 23, 2019 6:55 amThe big lad? Think that's the Loughborough University lad that's joined the development team.

Seemingly heading rapidly toward senility .....Not long or far to go now , in fact, getting worse daily.....

Just Googled him and it really isn't. He's a big lad but doesn't look big enough to Leitagaga though I'm not sure if he's arrived for pre season yet. Maybe we've got someone on trial or not getting a good look at their face isn't helping.kk20gb30 wrote: ↑Tue Jul 23, 2019 9:13 amReally could not say who it is ; but definitely not Osman Dimen.kpj tiger wrote: ↑Tue Jul 23, 2019 8:41 amI don't think its Osman Dimen, whoever it is looks kind of islander-ish to mesam16111986 wrote: ↑Tue Jul 23, 2019 6:55 am

That was my thought too, doesn’t look immediately like anyone I’ve seen in the squad up till now. If as someone else suggested he is a Pacific Islander, not big enough to be Kalamafoni, but too big to be Veianu. That said, are both away with Tonga anyway?
Triallist maybe? Stands a bit taller than Gigena, but no lifting blocks on. So either a non jumping back row, or maybe an outside back?

Maybe Mcginity has already put his Fiji connections to use?

Not sure if you understand the function of the forum. It's for people to give their opinions. I'm with you on the need to look forward to a new season. I'm with you on the fact that new and in some cases clearly better players (Lavannini, Taufua Green), might respond to the same coaching and execute it more effectively. That doesn't mean the coaching is of great quality. Edwards & Bennett would have made me look a better coach than I claimed to be.Truefollower wrote: ↑Mon Jul 22, 2019 9:19 pm Wow look at all the keyboard assassins who have never been near any of the rolls under discussion yet can say the incumbents are no good. Maybe just maybe the players weren't good enough to take on board the coaching and execute it. Get over last season and support your team, new players who might understand the coaching and execute it.
There is a perfectly logical argument that can be made by people who have never been defence coaches, DR, forwards coaches etc that the coaching staff aren't up to snuff. How do you ever make a judgement on the quality of coaching, other than by assessing the development and performance of individual players and the team. Last years performances were generally shocking. Tigers were a 'team' in name only.
You don't need to have 'been near any of the rolls under discussion' to have a valid opinion.

Ah yes, because as we all know blind faith has throughout history proved a more valuable commodity than an enquiring mind. If you think Phil Blake is good enough to coach at one of the biggest clubs in Europe, after watching our utterly useless defence last season, then I've got a bridge in Brooklyn to sell you.Truefollower wrote: ↑Mon Jul 22, 2019 9:19 pm Wow look at all the keyboard assassins who have never been near any of the rolls under discussion yet can say the incumbents are no good. Pretty sure the mystery Tiger is a back rower.

Ah yes "blind faith" if you do what you always do you get what you always get. So instead of changing the coaching set we elect to get it settled and instead upgrade the playing staff, I don't see that as blind faith but more a lets build together and see if we DON'T GET WHAT WE'VE ALWAYS GOT, an unprepared squad with not enough depth and class.

I was going to suggest Polota-Nau before RB’s input.
Dimen is at the rugby camp, it’s on both his and Tigers’ social media.

Too tall and rangy in comparison to TPN.
I’d say has the look of a Fijian back row or winger, hard to differentiate, similar builds typically
Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2019/20 SQUAD/TRANSFERS/CONTRACT THREAD Part 1
Definitely a Pacific Islander, looks a bit Semesa Rokogoduni-esq, if he’s actually Semesa that would be a really good coup for us.
