Bring.Back.Cockers!
what ever it takes. Discipline from the director of rugby downwards. How bad was loosing semi finals anyway? - would be great now!
I respected this club for its tradition, loyalty and history. Sacking Cockers was the worst thing we could have done, we became just another rugby club.

Re: next manager
Definitely, we've had three since COCKERS. And all three have been out of their depth.

Re: next manager
And who was responsible for the mess that others have failed to clear up.
I get for some he is the saviour but this downturn happened during his tenure.

Re: next manager
We were 5th at the time they sacked him. To quick to pull the trigger. (clearly did not work either).
Main issue was that they brought Aaron Mauger in and compromised his position and muddied the waters.
He should have been given the respect and time to sort out the purple patch we were in at the time. Now it is a complete mess!
Ok, go back to 2nd jan 2017 (the day he was sacked - yes we have had a lot of managers since 2017!) - would you still sack him knowing how things have turned out?

Re: next manager
No!! We should have either kept Mauger or gone the world class route which was promised. We did neither and the rest is history!

Re: next manager
Bring back Cockers? Are you mad? It was him that started the slide. He was way out of his depth as HC/DOR.

Re: next manager
Why on earth would he come back? His Edinburgh team beat Leinster last night and he has Bill Mata.
Re: next manager
He wouldn't come back - we have burnt that bridge.
Plus - good luck getting a world class coach to work with our board.
That is why we currently have an ex player who is out of his depth as head coach, exactly what you accuse Cockers of being. full circle but with a downward spiral towards relegation.

Re: next manager
Sean Edwards back tracking in joining Wigan...are you taking note board..?
Re: next manager
of course they are not.
they are too busy building a hotel and car park. taken their eye off the rugby ball - all commercial now

Re: next manager
The Mauger appointment was a fiasco.
His appointment was a huge mistake - his only reason for appointment was he was ex-Tigers.
His coaching record was of relative failure.
We urgently need smomeone parachuting in in the short term.
Perhaps Mike Ford.
We used to have the most miserly defence in the league. We bring in a defence coach who was here before at a time Tigers were beginning to slide.
Our forwards coaching bar the scrum is way below the standard required. Some is down to the players but many have been here for some time. Utility second/back rows who are not individually good enough in either position. The sort of player that’s useful on the bench but not starting.
A big clear out is essential and any of the existing players who don’t accept that things must change can be shown the door. Departing players who look like they don’t care.
We have an up and coming current international hooker who sits on the bench.
Says it all really.

Re: next manager
I would've rather kept him than reappoint MoC a million percent! Not a shadow of doubt in my mind

Re: next manager
If we do end up getting a new manager, then we should bring back R.C. He has worked miracles up in Scotland.
Re: next manager
Don’t you realise that it is a completely different set of circumstances in Scotland.Dangerous4 wrote: ↑Sat Mar 23, 2019 2:19 pm If we do end up getting a new manager, then we should bring back R.C. He has worked miracles up in Scotland.
He has done well but not without a huge amount of assistance from the SRU
Re: next manager
The Geordan Murphy appointment was a fiasco.
His appointment was a huge mistake - his only reason for appointment was he was ex-Tigers.
His coaching record was non existent
Sound familiar?
The BOD should never have confirmed Murphy as permanent head coach as he did and continues to do nothing to show he has what it takes to be a semblance of a top coach.
The BOD will not sack him he is the 3rd captain of the Titanic they appointed we are inches away from disaster and they just sit back paralysed by their own arrogance and incompetence to turn the doomed ship around content apparently to let us sink before the promised new crew arrive.
