B Youngs (Harrison)
Burns (Roberts)
Betham
O Williams
Tuilagi (Brady)
Thompstone
Worth
Not quite sure why we were so :censored: given that line up. However improvements...
Cole for Mulipola
Kalamafoni for McCaffrey
May for Betham
TV for Worth
Ford for Burns (arguably)
Negatives:
Traynor for Genge
Smith/Tait for Williams/Tuilagi (arguably)
Interesting comparison ourla. I would also view Mapapalangi as an improvement over last season. What I can't understand is why we are not playing Rizzo or Bateman unless they are injured. (Anybody know whether they are?) I know Rizzo has been on loan but surely he's a better option given his extensive international experience and his scrummaging abilities.
The only reason I can offer for us being so poor last time is the effect of all the offield upheavals that were going on.

we beat them 19-31 with this team:
Leicester Tigers: 15 Telusa Veainu, 14 Adam Thompstone, 13 Matt Smith, 12 Seremaia Bai’, 11 Vereniki Goneva, 10 Owen Williams, 9 Ben Youngs, 8 Lachlan McCaffrey, 7 Brendon O’Connor, 6 Ed Slater (c), 5 Mike Fitzgerald, 4 Graham Kitchener, 3 Dan Cole, 2 Tom Youngs, 1 Marcos Ayerza.
Replacements: 16 Harry Thacker, 17 Matias Aguero, 18 Fraser Balmain, 19 Dom Barrow, 20 Tom Croft, 21 Sam Harrison, 22 Tommy Bell, 23 Gonzalo Camacho.
Valid point Tiger93.
I would suggest that Tait in place of Bai is no drop off in ability/experience. The same applies for May in place of Goneva. George Ford shades it over Owen Williams for me. The back row is where I believe we gain most given that we can field Kalamafoni, Mapapalangi and Hamilton. I feel they will give us more go forward. The biggest loss from the 2015 team is in the front row - no Marcos Ayerza. I would have felt more confident there had we been able to pick Genge, Bateman or Rizzo at loosehead.

I could try tweeting our returning Italian prop but I'm not convinced he'll answer. I sent him the following yesterday and, although he's 'liked' it, he's not actually responded...
"Pure barry t'see ye haem, oor Mikey so it is! @Gengey's a bit peely-wally the noo an yoor a braw loose-head!"

Aside from the number one shirt, I'm not entirely sure what else there was to select from? The question was always going to be May vs Holmes on the wing - (no brainer) and it's massively unlikely that they would play Malouf, who is still learning the 15-man game on the wing, at centre. Our only two fit senior centres are Tait and Smith. Had Owen been fit, I'm sure he would have started ahead of Smith and Tait moved outside one.
Unfortunately, because of our injuries etc, I think that the rest picks itself.
Weather forecast is for it to feel like -3 and be raining at kick off time tomorrow!
I reckon this could turn into a bit of a slog which isn't good for our back 3 but may make things a bit of a lottery which arguably could be a good thing.
