Matt O'Connor In...Mauger Out

Re: Matt O'Connor In...Mauger Out
I thought it was April the first. the Board has lost the plot. Was at the Stoop yesterday having been at Sarries the week before and felt Tigers should keep Mauger until the end of season then give him the job if things continue to improve. What a mess. I cannot believe The Board are saying things like" we scoured the world to find a top class coach!" What has O' Connor done since leaving us? Taken Leinster backwards. My optimism yesterday has been replaced by pessimism. Hope I am wrong.
Re: Matt O'Connor In...Mauger Out
Er pardon me when Mauger was promoted to DOR the club described him as Head Coach and not DOR. I think like the film title we are "Lost in Translation" here. I could never imagine O'Connor accepting the job if he knew that someone else was going to be promoted over him. Matt is a very fiery character despite his outward Karma of Cool.

You have to be joking, during a match he is probably the most foul-mouthed person I've seen.Noddy555 wrote:despite his outward Karma of Cool.

There is no DOR role. The board are his boss, not a DOR.

+1 and I cannot express how rubbish I think this decision is. 'Scour the world'? More like scour the barrel.TigerCam wrote:+1Ian Cant wrote:I thought it was April the first. the Board has lost the plot. Correct, the statement from the club, was very explicitellis9 wrote:There is no DOR role. The board are his boss, not a DOR.
"Matt's strengths are in his work with players on the training pitch and we are making changes to our organisational structure to enable him to focus solely on the success of the team."
Clearly a coaching only role not DOR.
Re: Matt O'Connor In...Mauger Out
drc_7 Never been within earshot of O'Connor when he was last at Tigers so I can't comment on your assertion. But perhaps that's what we need someone who will take the bull by the horns and let us have some home truths and not the usual boardroom waffle.

:censored: call by the board.
Reckless and IMO will most likely damage our long term development.

I don't think it'll do much for the short and medium term either!RagingBull wrote: call by the board.

Happy days clearing straw from the pitch before the Baa-Baas games! KBO

Re: Matt O'Connor In...Mauger Out
Interesting appointment. I'd have preferred someone who hadn't some previous role at the club. We will see.

His quoted record in the press statement looks good and maybe as just a coach he will have success. I'm happy to wait and see.
If there is this widespread feeling of disappointment then I would expect to see and hear large demonstrations at the Newcastle match.

Re: Matt O'Connor In...Mauger Out
A bizarre decision so close to the end of the season, Veainu kicking off on twitter, I really don't get the boards decision making, sack cockers, stick with mauger then bring back a has been and let mauger go before the end of the season, senseless and stupid thinking, a great result at the weekend has been tarnished by this, what will O'Connor bring that Mauger hasn't in the attacking side of things, let's pray Ford doesn't drop in as DOR:
