Re: Veainu and Thomo-what commitment and stunning defence
I have watched the recording a few times now, and the pace of our players is outstanding. In fact they seem to be getting faster!
Most players would have given up that chase, and the fact that we have debated who, of those who contributed, actually made the tackle speaks volumes.
Those of us who are interested on what goes on at the King Power, understand that the team is greater that the sum of the individuals. This is how the Tigers always were, and now seems to be returning. The reaction of the crowd was understandable, and that was reflected by the players, and especially our bench!

I think we are seeing the benefit of a bit of gas.
Our backs have been powerful but we've not had many with real speed since Tom Varndell left and Harry Ellis retired.
Ben Youngs has always been pretty quick but there is now some real speed around him which does make defenders think twice as they know there's no second chance if they don't make the tackle.

Mine too - amazing.....the momentum that was with us could have been lost if that had been a try - instead ......L Smith wrote:+1, in fact they were my exact words as Garces' whistle blew and he awarded the penalty.Big Dai wrote:Better than a try.
Will live long in the memory.

It would be fantastic know the actual closing speed of Thommo & Veianu on the tackle on Saili is there somebody out there who recorded it to conduct an experiment on this. It wouldn't surprise me to hear that both of these players could do the 100 metres sprint in about 10.5 seconds or even less.

Game defining moment for me. I think almost to a man we all thought saili would score even watching veainu struggling to get by earls I thought the try was done and dusted. Then the subsequent seconds after it broke munster resolve and strengthened ours. I like the "all in it together" attitude this season. Dare I say they have been taking lessons from across the road.

Noddy, I was a prop, and those speeds were only achievable in a car.

Ditto! That's why I'm stunned by it!

As a bloke who has run 10.7 for 100m (a LONG time ago) Veainu is at least that fast.

Just to reiterate, there was no tackle on Saili. He realised that he had been caught and chucked the ball inside just as Veainu put his right hand on his left shoulder. If Veainu had tackled him, he probably wouldn't have had time to get to the breakdown caused by Thompstone's tackle.Noddy555 wrote:It would be fantastic know the actual closing speed of Thommo & Veianu on the tackle on Saili is there somebody out there who recorded it to conduct an experiment on this. I love the way the team celebrate the penalty, and turnover, and not just this one- they make a big deal of congratulating each other- great example of good team bonding.

Faithless is he that says farewell when the road darkens.

Do Leicester actually carry out sprint time trials? Last I heard Benjamin was fastest at the club but I'd be keen to see order of top 10 players

Nah - would have been cubits in those daysjgriffin wrote:As a bloke who has run 10.7 for 100m (a LONG time ago) Veainu is at least that fast.
Nowadays referees decide matches, players by how much.

About 4.6 chains Although I find some of these old measures hard to fathom.jgriffin wrote:OK, 100 spans then!G.K wrote:Nah - would have been cubits in those daysjgriffin wrote:As a bloke who has run 10.7 for 100m (a LONG time ago) Veainu is at least that fast.
