Looking ahead to Bath
For me the first really major game, we need to prove a big point in this game.
What team would you lot go for?
For me
1) Ayerza
2) Youngs
3) Cole
4) Slater (C)
5) Fitzgerald
6) Williams
7) O'Connor
8) McCaffrey
9) Youngs
10) Williams
11) Goneva
12) Smith
13) Betham
14) Thompstone (Or what ever wing V Banannaman
15) Tait
16) Bateman/Leo
17) Aguero
18) Balmain
19) Barrow
20) Crane/Croft
21) Harrison
22) Bell/Bai
23) Veainu
IMO that back row will bve needed against the bath pack to stop quick ball and to stop the likes of Louw, Attwood and Garvey getting dominance at the breakdown.

Sounds an interesting team. Will slater be fit enough? Did anyone see kit h play last night? How did he look?
Re: Looking ahead to Bath
I would still start with Croft. Too important to our lineout to leave out. I'm a big Slater fan but would keep him on the bench for this one and start Williams at lock and Croft at 6.

Re: Looking ahead to Bath
Slater should be fit enough IMO to start personally.
I see the argument for Williams @ Lock and Croft @ 6 but and is a likely option.
Kitchener should play another A league game and then prob be on the bench V wuss , before Munster.
Would like to think @ wuss game we could see Kitchener, JDV and Burns if fit getting a run out of some kind.

Not sure about starting Slater, I would give him last 20 or so.RagingBull wrote:For me the first really major game, we need to prove a big point in this game.

Re: Looking ahead to Bath
I think Veainu has earned himself another start. But where in the backline is the question. I'd be tempted to say 13 but I'm not sure we need another midfield combination that will soon be changed with JDV's arrival. Perhaps Keep Veainu at 15, Tait at 13 with Goneva and Betham on the wings.
It is a wonderful embarrassment of riches we have ended up with.

Now I agree with that !Iain wrote:I think Veainu has earned himself another start. But where in the backline is the question. Re: Looking ahead to Bath
I agree with your team Wigworth, but as others have said we do have a few good options... and that's before we get Manu/JDV!!

Re: Looking ahead to Bath
Can't see Veainu starting @15 against Bath.
Ford has a very good tactical kicking game and whilst Veainu is lethal with a poor kick, I feel he could get caught out of position more often.

Re: Looking ahead to Bath
I know I am very excited for the prospect of what is to hopefully come with those two!Soggypitch wrote:I agree with your team Wigworth, but as others have said we do have a few good options... and that's before we get Manu/JDV!!
I think it is a safe play Williams and Fitzgerald at locks as Bath are a little light in this area, so perhaps benching Slater who provides plenty of grunt to bring on later would be the best play. This allows Williams to be on the pitch without removing Croft who can hopefully disrupt the Bath lineout which people on the Bath unoffy forum have been bemoaning.
Re: Looking ahead to Bath
With Ford's tactical kicking I would rather have Tait at 15. Also think Thompstone should start to counter Banahan. Veainu is a great player but it might be good to keep him on the bench as he covers a few positions. He will also be good to bring on against tired legs

Agreed Thompstone has started well this season and must counter Banannaman the thug! Will S wrote:With Ford's tactical kicking I would rather have Tait at 15. The match Referee is JP Doyle with Wayne Falla & Paul Dix. JP had a good RWC2015 and is probably the best of the available referees.
