Brendon O'Connor
Remember in the summer when we lost Salvi the uproar on here..
Myself and a couple of other posters stated O'Connor was an improvement but the negativity was rife..
In ONE game in my opinion he showed more than Salvi did in his whole time here..Yes Salvi is great over the ball & defensively but I always felt he offered little else
O'Connor is the link between back and forwards and will go on to become one of Tigers greatest ever modern 7's..
Some may call this post hugely premature given he has played one game but I for one am exceptionally happy to have him over Salvi..thanks all that brought him here the good times are really coming back

Re: Brendan O'Connor
If indeed he is at such a level then he will be playing for England and the Lions in the next couple of years and missing a lot of club rugby.

TBF some people didn't or couldn't watch Super and ITM.
If they did they would have seen his talent.
And also TBF the 2015 super rugby season was his breakout year.

Re: Brendan O'Connor
If you were the new England Coach, Messrs O'Connor and Hughes are our 7 and 8 for the foreseeable future !!!
Re: Brendan O'Connor
We are all jumping to the conclusion that he would want to play for England. I hope he does but has he ever said he would entertain the option?

Re: Brendan O'Connor
Not according to Cockers. Playing for England never mentioned during contract talks, although maybe he noticed how things went with TTTE when he found out he was England qualified. Cockers was not a happy bunny. Will S wrote:We are all jumping to the conclusion that he would want to play for England. I hope he does but has he ever said he would entertain the option?
Re: Brendan O'Connor
Come on chaps be realistic. He has given up on representing the ABs to play for Leicester Tigers ?

Ever the reasonable RB this is a valid point...RagingBull wrote:TBF some people didn't or couldn't watch Super and ITM.

One thing I found weird watching this is he seemed big over there and taller than most bar the locks..yet on Friday he seemed small compared to the behemoths that play up here..
Re: Brendan O'Connor
From 2016/17 there is an International player credit of up to 80k on top of the base payment.
So importing second tier SH players with English relatives is a financially smart move is it not ?

Re: Brendan O'Connor
O'Connor is on record as saying he wants to play for England and Cockers is on record saying he is England quality (although does that say much).
So prob a good bet that England is on the agenda.

Pretty sad that our backrow going towards the 2016 November internationals should be:RagingBull wrote:O'Connor is on record as saying he wants to play for England and Cockers is on record saying he is England quality (although does that say much).

8. Hughes 7. O'Connor 6. Ewers
None of which are really English...Sad times but that would be some unit may only be lacking in the lineout perhaps..

Re: Brendan O'Connor
Got to exploit the rules to the fullest and play the best players available. Other teams do it just as much.

God created rugby so footballers have heros too
Re: Brendan O'Connor
Yep I was expecting a taller chap - went back over clips and the average player over there must be slightly smaller. The obsession with size started here with Geoff Cooke AFAIR and is true of SA certainly as well.JackFlashJonny wrote:Ever the reasonable RB this is a valid point...RagingBull wrote:TBF some people didn't or couldn't watch Super and ITM.
