Re: 2015/16 Squad/Contracts/Rumours Thread Part 2
Pietersen has spent the last two years in Japan on mega money. I'd expect him to go to France or back to SA. I'd also prefer to sign someone committed to the club for more than two years and looking for a pension top up. We have a good stock of wingers even if Camacho and Goneva were to leave. If signing another winger is a must a younger option would be a better idea given Thommo, Tait and Benjamin are all in their late twenties. Even Betham will be 27 by the end of the season. These guys will be on peak wages. A younger guy to develop will be cheaper and could be better value for money (ala TV this season).
Re: 2015/16 Squad/Contracts/Rumours Thread Part 2
we will have the usual left overs to clear out which will probably include Loamanu Benjamin Camacho Morris and a couple of others....
Why we want to sign JP Pietersen, heaven only knows. Another Veainu, would be right up our street, young and keen to impress...
Of course for the sort of money Pietersen will require, we could go to some Chinese Laboratory and have Veainu cloned.
Much better

Re: 2015/16 Squad/Contracts/Rumours Thread Part 2
IMO it would be a good signing (At the right price).
His mindset could be
1) I earn this much I want to earn more or the same.
2) I have earned a lot of money already and fancy going to a competitive club for a attractive wage but not has much as I could get.
We could potentially be losing 5 or so Outside backs.
JPP covers, Wing, 15 and 13 and has done so at International level. Which although he has adapted well there Betham is not a 13.
Going into next season we could have
9) Youngs, Harrison, Kitto
10) Williams, Burns, Toomua
12) Toomua, Smith, (JDV?), Bryant
13) Manu, JPP, Catchpole, Smith, Betham
14/11) Veainu, JPP, Betham, Thompstone, Morris, Catchpole,
15) Tait, Veainu, Morris, Bell, Betham, JPP
Let's face it our Academy outside backs not quite ready for AP rugby week in week out
Worth is 19
Odogwu is only 18, ATM reckon another 2 season @ U20 rugby and then bring him up.
Sam Yawayawa is I think 17/18.
And finding another Veainu out of nowhere is not exactly a given.

Wouldn't be getting rid of Bell personally. He is surely Tait's replacement?
Leicester Tigers 1995-
Nottingham 1995-2000
Swansea (Whites) 1988-95
A game played on grass in the open air by teams of XV.

So what do people think are priorities should be for next season?
For me
Hooker replacement for Leo.
Loose head prop to fill in gap between Mulipola and young props, Rizzo and Aguero are getting older unfortunately.
Outside backs to replace I guess leavers.
Those 3 for me will be key recruitments.

Yes same RB..plus we need to get rid of players that haven't made the grade..
Top quality number 2 is a priority I am already worried how we are going to cope come six nations..
I really thought Loamanu could of been a great player for us but he just hasn't worked so I am sure he will be off..I thought he would be the Manu style 13 when Manu was away/injured..Benjamin, Camacho and Goneva will be interesting to see what happens with these three..
As always we need more depth in the centres this has been our achilles heel for years no..a centre pool for 2016 of Toomua, Smith, Manu & Bai (or will Bai retire?) needs a lot more depth in it..or the likes of Catchpole, Thacker & Roberts to step up which doesn't look like happening anytime soon..

Centers look fine IMO if JDV maybe stays another season esp with Smith in the form he is in ATM IMO.
Maybe another project player if Roberts goes.
If rumor about JPP coming are true he can play 13 as well.

I cannot see JDV staying I imagine he will be off for one last Japan contract or retiring however we shall see..RagingBull wrote:Centers look fine IMO if JDV maybe stays another season esp with Smith in the form he is in ATM IMO.

It seems to me we have far too many wingers and not enough centres...
Camacho, Thompstone, Benjamin, Goneva, Veainu and Betham these are all frontline wingers (granted a couple can play elsewhere) but that is overkill if you ask me

Although i reckon Mauger is viewing Veainu as our starting FB in the near future.

Just seen that James Johnston is leaving Wasps with immediate effect.
Sorry it's a bit off track to Tigers contracts / rumours.

Re: 2015/16 Squad/Contracts/Rumours Thread Part 2
James Johnston would be a hell of a risk as wasps say that he hasn't been able to train fully for over 5 months and and this "couldn't" happen. We are bound to sign him if that is the case.
Hehehehehehehehe
