If you have not passed or been to Welford Rd recently certainly a surprise is in store......
Seemingly heading rapidly toward senility .....Not long or far to go now , in fact, getting worse daily.....
Re: Still stuck in the mud! - Development updates
My last post was not meant to be serious but I have a background in architecture and I run the webcam in the background each day as I am interested in how the final building is going to look.
Unfortunately at the moment I have no reasons for going into Leicester so I haven't been past the site for many months. From what you say it sounds as if they may be dismantling some of the coverings to the facades facing the road(s). Is this the case?

It has just been reported the Leicester Hotel Brooklyn sister hotel in Manchester has been sold to a 'private investor'. Like our hotel it was owned by Bespoke Hotels, which also owns Hotel Gotham, and was recently named in the top 20 'hottest new hotels' in the world for 2021 at the Traveller's Choice Best of the Best awards.
Our hotel, which is due to open early 2022, looks like an exciting addition to Leicester's hotel offer and will hopefully be attractive to corporate bodies looking for conferencing facilities in conjunction with Tigers.

Good to see that work has started on the construction of the fully glazed wall to the hotel atria facing onto the new public space between the hotel and Tigers.
It also looks like the main cladding will comprise of a ventilated screen system faced with large ceramic tiles laid in a brick bond to look like blocks of portland stone, a welcome change from red brick. There will also be areas of screens constructed using bronze colored powder coated Expamet (expanded metal). It is used to denote things like vertical circulation routes and will break up the mass of the facades. I believe it will be a good looking building and I am looking forward to the sheeting being removed along with the external scaffolding.
For those interested the latest drawings can be viewed of the LCC planning website.

It was definitely interesting to see when we went to the game against Bristol, in fact I had forgotten about it until I saw it. Coming along nicely.

It's great that the club supports this kind of thing.

The last week has seen much of the glazing to the 8 storey atrium wall installed. It can't be too long now before they start to unwrap the building and remove the external scaffolding.

Leicester City's proposed development is amazing. https://www.lcfc.com/news/2212985/king- ... n-now-open
Re: Still stuck in the mud! - Development updates
Agreed. An exciting project and assuming it all goes ahead it will be a great addition to the city.
Clearly City are blessed with an owner who has the resources to finance such a development and we will see more of how it will all look once they go for detailed planning consent.
In the meantime our hotel will add much to the Tigers offer for conferencing, weddings, entertainment, etc. which in turn should help to support the main focus of the club, rugby.
Nothing yet about the progress of the multi-storey car park which will be needed to help replace the lost parking.

So what has happened to the webcam of the pitch? At this time of the year the sad members could watch the new grass growing out of the sand base. Instead we only have the secretly enclosed future hotel complex on camera and this has grown to its full height!!!
Come on Tigers and Shine please switch it back on again..
