Re: Hartley AGAIN
I doubt he'll plead guilty, he behaved a bit aggressively but any physical contact was accidental and probably as much George's fault as Hartley's, on this occasion I think he's a bit hard done to. Unless you want him banned in advance of the next time!Bill W (2) wrote:Hartlkey will wear a nice white shirt, a suit and tie; plead guily and show remorse. Re: Hartley AGAIN
I agree the incident was hardly likely to draw blood. It was intended to ‘wind up’ his opponent; it was the act of a ‘mardy’ individual. There was no intention to cause serious injury – or probably any injury at all.
BUT…
IMHO, off the pitch, these guys are not role models but when they’re on it and in the full view of so many spectators and TV viewers – they very definitely are.
I’ve been a senior cricket coach for many years and I’ve seen countless examples of kids copying on the field what they’ve seen their heroes do on TV. I can guarantee that somewhere there will be a young, impressionable rugby player having a great time in a junior team who will head butt an opponent because he’s seen the England hooker do it and not be sanctioned for it.
Hartley really should know better and he should better serve the sport which gives him a living.

Happy days clearing straw from the pitch before the Baa-Baas games! KBO

Re: Hartley AGAIN
Any offence involving the head, by victim or perpetrator is now an absolute no-no. Except perhaps this once?
Valhalla I am coming!
Re: Hartley AGAIN
The commentators were falling over themselves to say there was nothing in it...... it appears the citing officer disagreed!

Dylan Hartley really is a complete and utter Piers Morgan
Re: Hartley AGAIN
I remember an incident between Marcos and Marler during a Quins game. All Marcos did was lean on Marler, during the verbal interchange, with his head. Seriously not a head butt but the decision was that there was head contact and he was banned. Hartley is a liability and deserves all he gets, but it won't be much and he'll promise to be a good boy from now on. Until the next time that is.
The fact that Voldermort and henchman think it's all OK says a lot about why Stains may have been successful but they never will be a class outfit.

Re: Hartley AGAIN
I agree, it wasn't much, but it was from a man who has much previous, it was deliberate and it wasn't heat of the moment, it was just after Sarries had scored a try. If George hadn't shown some restraint, it probably would have led the ref to take action. Did he TMO it during the game- I can't remember?
