Midi Olympique reporting that not only will the Du Plessis brothers sign for Montpellier but Jake White is in talks with Pierre Spies and Francois Steyn...Quite frankly this is embarrassing for both French rugby and the Boks..

It's em tasting for the French but TBH only one of those players I would be really happy if Leicester signed (BDP) but Youngs is a hell of a hooker anyway.JackFlashJonny wrote:Midi Olympique reporting that not only will the Du Plessis brothers sign for Montpellier but Jake White is in talks with Pierre Spies and Francois Steyn...Quite frankly this is embarrassing for both French rugby and the Boks..

Ten leaving Saints - quite a list, a lot of reconstruction to do which may hinder their new season objectives.

Given that only two of the departures are in their first choice match-day squad, there is not a huge amount of reconstruction.fleabane wrote:Ten leaving Saints - quite a list, a lot of reconstruction to do which may hinder their new season objectives.

Of the 8 players named (I don't know who the other two are), only Ma'afu and Manoa are losses. Dowson was the only other one to play more than 10 games this season and even he's already dropped down to fifth in the back-row pecking order.
They've recruited well already to replace the departing guys. Though Manoa may prove to be irreplaceable.

Tigers sign Wynand Olivier
The Rugby Paper reporting we have signed him on a one year deal from the srart of next season after Jake White let him go at Montpellier...
31 year old Centre little underwhelmed...

Based on the reaction of the Saints fans on the Crumbie the other week I'm not sure they see Ma'afu as a loss.4071 wrote:Given that only two of the departures are in their first choice match-day squad, there is not a huge amount of reconstruction.fleabane wrote:Ten leaving Saints - quite a list, a lot of reconstruction to do which may hinder their new season objectives.

Wynand Olivier on a one year deal suggests we are targeting a marquee player next summer (as Cohen said on the radio). I think it's a smart signing to replace Allen - Olivier is a quality player with plenty of international experience. My only concern is Montpellier have been signing lots of South Africans now Jake White is coach, so I don't understand why they wouldn't renew Olivier's contract?

Well at least we can watch him play for the Barbarians today see if he still has it
He does seem very of the Allen ilk and is an international..hopefully it will prove an inspired signing

Just discussed on Sky commentary, Tait all but agreed to stay at Tigers next year.
Plenty of talk recently of the need for a 12 and 15.
Wynand Olivier and Matt Tait by the sounda of it today.

Olivier is a sensible signing if we can't get the right 12 on the right contract this summer. Take him for a year, try again next summer.

He was not visable in Baa Baas side, think they must have taken him off very early?

He was taken off in the second half.
TBH he isn't a barbarians type player and that was a poor barbarians team TBH.

Personally if Olivier is replacing Allen with the view that we have an marquee 12 coming the season after we should be looking @ a 15 and maybe a 9 IMO.
9) Youngs, Harrison, Tresidder/?
10) Williams, Burns, Bell, Bai
12) Olivier, Manu, Bai, Roberts
13) Manu, Tait, Loamanu, Catchpole, Smith, Camacho
11/14) Betham, Goneva, Morris, Thompstone, Benjamin, Camacho, Smith, Catchpole
15) Tait/?, Tait/?, Morris, Bell
