Europe

Haven't seen it elsewhere so I wondered if others have realized that after this weekend we have qualified for Europe next season? Sale in 7th have 49 and we have 60 (11 points difference) with 2 games to go: one result!

I'm pretty sure this has been mentioned previously, Dicky P, but have not been bothered to find the reference.

Suffice to say that earlier in the season this might have been viewed as the height of our ambition! Or depth of our depair! Depending on whether you are a doom monger or happy clapper.

We have, of course, always qualified for Europe!

It was previously mentioned on page 10 of the Team v London Welsh thread. I could be bothered to find it for you.

Well I started this season a little more leaning to the happy clapper camp but have migrated towards the doom monger side.

But Regardless Top tier Europe is great next season :smt026

There surely can't be any happy clappers left now ? We are a third rate team playing utterly boring rugby - I can't see any progress happening while Cockerill is here .

Anyone know the last time we finished outside the top 6?

Fair enough… good to see we will have European rugby at WR next season… but I find it hard to get excited about this. IMO its a pre-requisite to finish Top 6 rather than an achievement for a club of our stature and previous record.

Can I put an early request for a group with: Leinster/Munster, a Scottish club and Racing please… rather than Toulon, Llanelli and Ulster!

Yes because I just took a couple of minutes to look it up.

Page 485 of the Official Tigers History reveals the answer.

Real question should be - the top 6 of what. If you count from the start of the Courage league in 1987/8 we never have.

Oh and by the way the answer from the start of the Allied Dunbar in 1997/8 is here on the web site, under Team, League tables.
