The stewards don't have the power to detain, although they are allowed to use limited restraining techniques if required. Otherwise the guy would have been given to the police, Bit of a shame really.

Only if PI trained

So, hypothetically of course, what would the stewards do if say some of the Tartan Ruggers, having put too much of the hard stuff in their Thermos flasks, started to run amok in the Cat stand? Not being trained in PI they would just have to watch then?

I can't comment on now, but there used to be specific team used to deal with such incidents. A steward / supervisor can get involved but unless trained should not put hands on. Conflict management does not the majority of the time require physical intervention
