What I feared, a quick look on line on the prognosis of these injuries assuming of course that the report is accurate would sadly indicate that Pablo Matera will not be back in action anytime soon. I sincerely hope it is not as bad as Camacho's shoulder problems

Arghh. It's happening again isn't it? It just seems inevitable that we're going to lose half the team to injuries again. Hopefully he will be back around December which is when he would have been back from the internationals. Really dissapointing because I can see this being his breakthrough year after a adapting last season.

According to "rugbyworldcup-argentina2023 blog spot" (think that's right), MRI scan reveals shoulder injury requiring surgery, caused whilst tackling Ruan Pienaar. Maybe available for their November internationals.

According to twitter, Matera has a partial shoulder dislocation, lets hope the curse from last season doesn't strike again. Mind you if we play, manu, goneva, barbierie, loamanu, bai etc in the same team, I think it wont be us worrying about injuries

just for the medical buffs among us (just call me doc lfj - hehehehe) here is a prognosis for his rehab from a well known medical site (name escapes little ole me).
POSTOPERATIVE MANAGEMENT:

The shoulder is immobilised in a sling for four weeks (stable fixation due to the bone chip), and passive range of motion exercises for abduction, flexion, and internal rotation are begun on the first postoperative day. After four weeks, active range of motion exercises are begun in all planes including external rotation. After twelve weeks, full loading is permitted.

Recovery from Tendon Surgery:
It is necessary to protect the repair for at least 4 weeks after surgery, so the arm is kept in a special sling and therapy may not begin until after 4 weeks. Active motion of the shoulder is then permitted and the sling is removed after 4 weeks. Therapy then consists of active and passive stretching performed under the supervision of a therapist. After 12 weeks, strengthening is commenced and usually after 16 weeks, skill sports such as tennis, golf, and swimming can begin. Sports activities that entail collision or contact are avoided for at least 24 weeks after surgery.

12 weeks wouldn't be two bad considering we tend not to get our argies back fully till after Novemeber.
