Re: Teams up
To be fair the way Bubbles played last week, that's not the main concern.

Re: Teams up
No cover at 7 so you can be sure Salvi is in for a rough afternoon. Glad we're going with Williams at 10 as you can't buy this kind of experience, let's just hope he doesn't spend all afternoon getting sacked by the mighty Clermont back row.

Gibson can change sides and do a job, leaving TTTE or JC to cover 6CitizenSmiff wrote:No cover at 7 so you can be sure Salvi is in for a rough afternoon. In my defence, I was left unsupervised….

Re: Teams up
Good to see Buttin at fullback, he is far better now than Byrne. Sivivatu is a big loss but Nakaitaci has played so well each time he played this year.
Can wai't.

Re: Teams up
We have a good side out. Although Scotty has played well I am pleased Tait is starting and it shows good attacking intent from Cockers, it is certainly not a defensive/conservative selection.
I'm also a fan of Scully so IMO a good call to replace Thompstone (who has done nothing wrong). I would have had Kitch not Louis, but I can see we may need Deacon's physicality early on and Kitch can make a real impact off the bench, likewise TTTE!
Looking at the Clermont side, yes it's good but not definitely not unbeatable.......as Bill would say we must;
KEEP THE FAITH!!!!!

Re: Teams up
We are in the best possible position - if we are not to prevail then I doubt that any side would do so at this time away to Clermont. If I were a betting man I would take a punt on Tigers shading it.

Re: Teams up
Seems a little light on speed in the back 3 cover for the bench. Would have prefered to have seen Kitchener start, I think he has earned the right.
God created rugby so footballers have heros too
Re: Teams up
hopefully Kitch can make a big impact from the bench

Re: Teams up
We need two enforcers in the pack to start, plus with a few like Miles and Niall out, we are not exactly blessed with any alternative to cover full back.Rykard wrote:hopefully Kitch can make a big import from the bench

Win or lose. It doesn't matter. It really doesn't.
All I ask for is a performance worthy of the club, worthy of the fans and worthy of the players themselves.
All to gain and nothing to lose.
Play your hearts out boys, do an old man proud.
And kick some French backside.
If you don't make it I'll still love you!

Re: Teams up v ASM Clermont
+1. The players should know that there is no expectancy on them to win this game. All we, as fans expect is for them to give everything they can to bring respect to the club. As Cockers said, a win here would go down in the history books as one of our greatest ever victories. If that isn't enough to motivate the team into putting in a fantastic performance I don't know what will. I believe we can get a result here. We will need to win the collisions, play smart territorially rugby, kick our goals and take chances when they present themselves but all of these things are acheivable.
