Lawes' head is generally on the wrong side. The net result is his tackling technique is basically a flying headbutt to the guts. It makes him more likely to injure the player he is tackling or often himself.

Soggypitch, As you live near me we must meet up for a pint sometime. I think we would have a lively debate.
However, I believe that if referees clamped down on these dangerous late tackles, the ultimate would be that they would reduce, and Rugby would be the better for it.
I also don't believe that I was the only one who thought it should have been red- ask Mr. Cockerill!

The officials got it right. If Dan Cole hadn't have been there then nothing would have been made of it.
