Glen Jackson to ref England v Fiji

Post by BJ. »

According to Planet Rugby

This will be his first international with the whistle. All the rest of the officials are listed for this weekend's fixtures.
Whatever you do, don't argue. We might never hear from you again.

Look forward to seeing this not long ex premiership poacher turn gamekeeper in action.

Any chance of him penalising crooked feeds do you think?
Nowadays referees decide matches, players by how much.

Though he had an excellent game yesterday. Sympathetic, sensible and accurate.

What I really liked about him yesterday was that unlike Messers Barnes and Owen you barely noticed he was there.

Asd an ex professional and semi professional player in two sports, having a ex-pro ref/umpire in situ always commands respect......
Having an ''amateur'' in charge does not and leads to some serious malfunction in decision making as they cannot ever understand what is going on.
Cricket mostly uses ex-pros ... Rugby refs -and soccer referees can be a total joke..
I have a distant business colleague--a totally useless soccer player- who is intent in becoming a Premier League Football referee. As he is ''gay'' he is being fast-tracked. That probably tells you everything !!!!!
And yes, I thought Jackson was superb.

I believe that this was his first international and at Twickenham with a capacity crowd it was an excellent stand. Can we attract him to the Premiership as we can do with his talent?
