George Skivington
I've had scan round and haven't found a thread on his departure,as an ex second row(who ended up at loosehead)I would like to both express sorry that he's going and admiration for the work he's doing for us.
I know we are well blessed with locks, but his departure will leave a big hole to fill, good luck Skivs and thanks, for an ex "pest" you turned out all right.

"If you want entertainment, go to the theatre," says Edinburgh head coach Richard Cockerill. "Rugby players play the game to win.15/1/21.

Re: George Skivington
Too right.
He's a top player - Irish will certainly not miss Kennedy next year!
A shame that he's leaving (but family does come first). I'll miss watching him being a thorn in the side to scrum halves around the ruck.

Re: George Skivington
He's improved out of sight since joining the club and really has become a proper Tiger, if he'd joined us earlier in his career he'd have got some England caps by now. Sad to see him go, LI are getting a very handly lock indeed.

As skin and muscle says - shame but family must come first (always).
For when the One Great Scorer comes to write against your name,
He marks - not that you won or lost - but how you played the Game."

Re: George Skivington
Agree with everything said so far. Was thrown in at the deep end at the start of last season with all our injury problems in that position, but got his head down and worked his a**e off, and has improved out of sight.
Thanks George, best of luck with the Not Nots.
Just not against us...

Blimey...

I will miss him a lot! I think his performances on the pitch and his Living Rugby blog show how much he's enjoyed/enjoying being a Tiger.

Re: George Skivington
good player and easily brushed off his ex wasp tag.
Having spoken to him he very polite as well off the pitch.
a bit of miss as he may ahve got some caps if he'd been in the tigers
camp for longer but a good signing...
I think kitchener and parling are bnoth exceptional locks who call the lineouts as well so there is cover until we get to international time again.
deacon any word if he will ever be fit again ???

Opportunities always look bigger going than coming.

No I'm sure I remember reading that the move here was for rugby development, but the plan was that they would also move back south, where their extended family is, when his children reached school age.GS wrote:I missed this, a case of another homesick wife, gf etc.?DickyP wrote:As skin and muscle says - shame but family must come first (always).
Re: George Skivington
Skivo's been a tower of power for us this season and last. His workrate has been outstanding this year - rushing through the ruck to get Wigglesworth on the deck and make him force the pass was one of the main reasons Sarries only came close to scoring once in the semi.
His lineout work is brilliant and the grunt in the scrum immense. We're really going to need Kitchener to step up to the plate next season!
As for Deacon, how long is he reallistically expected to carry on playing? I can't remember the last time the poor devil put together a run of more than 5 games. The SA guy Rob Andrew seems to fit the "Deacon" mould, so maybe he's being groomed as a replacement?

I think Tigers has been a "locking university" for Skivs. It will have served him very well, and he also served us well during his tenure.
Won't be much fun playing against him next season !
Huge Good luck personally to Skivs, but miserable failure to his new team :p
