Dear Tigers,
Castres Olympique 23 - 19 ASM Clermont Auvergne-
Stade Français 22 - 18 SU Agen-
Toulon 39 - 17 Bourgoin-
La Rochelle 20 - 16 Montpellier-
Toulouse 23 - 22 Brive-
Biarritz Olympique 36 - 32 Racing Métro 92
Perpignan 25 - 19 Aviron Bayonnais
While the French national selection fully participated in a historical day at Flaminio Stadium, Rome, Italy, the Top 14 was going on (with the best elements of the French Rugby, of course!)
Ugly scenes marred the Catalans-Basques game (Perpignan - Biarritz), to the amusement of the spectators. Rémy Martin took a huge hit in the face by Grégory Le Corvec, who is cited for his behaviour. There also was a rugby match. Perpignan won.
Stade Français won at home against Agen. Of know : the only try of that game was scored by the Italian hero’s brother, Mauro Bergamasco. It took three crossing of the line until the referee finally granted us a try.
Toulon squashed Bourgoin. Everybody squashes Bourgoin these days.
La Rochelle had a decisive win in their survival plan against Montpellier, who might well be out of the top 6 if they keep on losing easy games.
Biarritz survived a controversial game and scored tries despite visble forward passes that only the referee didn’t see. Pierre Berbizier, Racing’s coach, couldn’t refrain his joy after the game. Hm, sour grapes.
Brive were close to the exploit in Toulouse. But Toulouse win their matches whatever happen, no matter how many of their players are selected. And I dislike their coach, Guy Novès.
Looking at the table, poor Stade Français has nothing to fear but nothing to hope either for this season...

Re: French Top 14 day 21
Some of you may remember the warm up match-----a local Cup Final------ preceding the Heineken Cup match versus Beziers..
There was an almighty fracas immediately after the start, far more volatile and with real fists and boots, just like the old days.
Local knowledge was that these two teams had to score to settle---and that was the day it was !!
Well worth the ticket price...
