Leinster v Tigers

Post by jamiewilkinson »

I am hoping that a ticket allocation for the tigers that was smaller than the amount of season tickets we have this year, has meant that the reason the public allocation was sold out in 40 minutes, was because many tigers fans feared they would not get a ticket from the tigers ticket office. I also hope that many season ticket holders opted for the general public sale as well, as we have sent tickets back to Leinster. Whats going on? think i may be sitting somewhere near the back, thinking the Tigers allocation would be sold out in a few hours to season ticket holders and members, i thought i would make sure i'm there by getting mine when they went on general public sale. Only to find out this week that we have handed tickets back.
can anyone enlighten me on whats happened to such a loyal bunch of season ticket holders

We sold around 8000 tickets i think which is pretty good. Its nothing to do with loyalty a trip to leinster is not cheap add work commitments and that sort of thing then i think it is a very good amount.

Also tickets will have been sourced in Dublin before tigers got theirs so I expect to see at least 10,000 Tigers fans over there.

8,000 to 10,000 fans travelling to Dublin in the present economic climate is an heroic effort :smt038 :smt038 :smt038

The likelihood of us getting spanked might have put quite a few off too

If that's the attitude of some, then they don't deserve to have tickets. To quote the Immortal Bard from Henry V Act IV Scene III:

If we are mark'd to die, we are enow
To do our country loss; and if to live,
The fewer men, the greater share of honour.
God's will! I pray thee, wish not one man more.
By Jove, I am not covetous for gold,
Nor care I who doth feed upon my cost;
It yearns me not if men my garments wear;
Such outward things dwell not in my desires:
But if it be a sin to covet honour,
I am the most offending soul alive.
No, faith, my coz, wish not a man from England:
God's peace! I would not lose so great an honour
As one man more, methinks, would share from me
For the best hope I have. O, do not wish one more!
Rather proclaim it, Westmoreland, through my host,
That he which hath no stomach to this fight,
Let him depart; his passport shall be made
And crowns for convoy put into his purse:
We would not die in that man's company
That fears his fellowship to die with us.
Whatever you do, don't argue. We might never hear from you again.

Judging from your post, it sounds like you don't own a season ticket or even a club membership, yet feel the people who do own one but can't afford another £500 outlay for a trip to Dublin are in someway being disloyal to the club?

Or maybe I've just interpreted your words incorrectly?
It's only cheating if you get caught.

I agree with the thrust of the above (Who is that Masked Squid?). I have not been to any Tigers games abroad other than the Paris HC final 10 years ago. The reasons are simple:
1. I can't afford it
2. I can't afford it.
I prefer to spend what little I have on a season ticket and dislike being sneered at because I am poor. The boasting on here "Well I'VE got MY tickets and flights and I'LL be staying in a 5 star hotel..." verges on the offensive at times.

It's very nice if you can afford to do it but a weekend for two costing about £1,000 is a tad too dear! That amount will just about look after the price of Mrs SJT's season for the next three years - bargain!!! :smt045
Sponsorship deals may come and go but the CRUMBIE stand will always remain.

Similar reasons why we are not going. Cost and getting time off work, school etc...
Good luck to everyone going and enjoy

Re my earlier post about the boasting that goes on; I would like to say that it is not nearly as nauseating as reading about how much people's charity donations will be.

This is not relevant to the thread subject topic, is it? And if it is - then people donate what they can afford, everyone knows that - just like people buy tickets to travel to away games if they can afford them/justify the cost. I can't, so I don't - it does not make me any less a fan or anyone else a better fan because they can afford the costs and choose to do so.

£1000 for two for the weekend? Where were you thinking of staying - the Dorchester?

If you give me a grand and I take out the costs of our flights, 3 nights hotel accommodation, match tickets and airport transfers, it would still leave the pair of us with over £600 spending money.
Whatever you do, don't argue. We might never hear from you again.
