Re: The duff ref list gets longer!
Going back to original point, what was Mr Allan doing there for the A Final in the first place? Why didn't the RFU appoint one of it's own referees? Will we be getting a Welsh or Irishman? I bet the SRU didn't ask the RFU for a referee for the Scottish Club Cup Final!
Re: The duff ref list gets longer!
I believe that he has been appointed to the panel of International Referees, replacing a certain Chris White.Bill W (2) wrote:Andrew Small? He is still learning isn't he?

you really cannot make it up! the inconsistancy in every match must be embrassing someone in authority. but will anything be done?

Bill, as you know i am not one to have a go at the referee. BUT todays ref was either way out of his depth or dare i say it more than biased? I would opt for out of his depth hoping that he will learn big time from todays performance.I would think he might not be around next season unless he sorts his game out.At least twice the linesman saw tackles off the ball against Tigers but failed to point this out to the Ref. Why? I suspect that his instruction would be to them that i deal with all fouls/penalty's. Thats ok as long as he see's them! The assesors will have to get to work on him!
But do you not think that at times Tigers played into his hands? Sorry to say but events were out of control on the pitch as well as in the stand around the pressbox/directors box area. What was that all about?

Palletman, Andrew Small will be around next season - he has just been appointed to the panel of International referees.
The instructions that are given to the Assistant Refs are to call in any foul play or offsides to the Ref. This was the same for todays game.
The refs ask for all the assistance from the other officials but it is not always seen by the officials.

Re: The duff ref list gets longer!
palletman, I agree with your comments on the ref although I doubt anything will be done about it. The very fact that you are tempted to conclude that he was biased speaks for itself.
Did Tigers play into his hands?
I do not think Tigers were as "up for it" as they might have been. I think that they were then generally confused by some of his rulings/lack of rulings. In that context it is, perhaps, difficult for Geordan being captain at full back. I know he did attempt to talk to Small on a number of occasions but I cannot but feel that Johnno would have engaged him more directly. Tom Crofts face when he was yellow carded was one of total amazement.
