Tigers Locks

Post by rangrave »

If Ben Kay, Louis Deacon and Richard Blaze all got selected for their respective England 22's who would be our locks?

Rather depends on whether England and the Saxons will be playing at the same time. If they're not, then it would be Blaze and Parling, or Kay and Deacon, depending on which international side was playing. The depth (or rather lack) is a bit of a concern if we get injuries, though. Step up the Academy boys!

Unless either of them are selected in their respective positions as well (or on the bench)

Just bring your boots to every home game. With 14 selected for Eng alone, first through the new swipe turnstiles may get a game?

With England needing to look to the future for the world cup surely it wouldn't be wise to select these players and i really don't know if deacon is up to the England job, don't get me wrong he is a great clubman but can he make the step to international, it is a very different game. Also Johnson should be focusing on the youth factor and concentrating on players who have a bigger future with England players like White should be there to mentor and play but should be helping more so to bring the future England players through.
Tigers are definetely in need of some fresh young faces in the forwards with our World Cup Winning players tiring and coming to the end of their international careers we certainly have those options but what about bringin some fresh blood in through the academy or from elsewhere, haven't heard many forwards are being brought in with all the speculation around the backs with Twelvetrees, Allen and the gang getting most of the focus?

Dan Hemmingway and Calum Green the academy boys did us proud last year and I have faith that they will do the same this year if they are called upon. Blaze can be recalled from the Saxons if we are playing and are short of players.

Saxons don't clash with GP fixtures, and if they do then the clubs get priority. Hence the bizarre side named for the Portugal game last season.

The only way were are likely to lose all three locks is if there are a series of injuries to EPS locks and Blaze gets called up to the full squad. Given this would likely involved all three of Shaw, Borthwick and Kennedy being injured at the same time, we should be OK.
