Clowns. Where do you stand?

Post by Kinoulton »

Latest thinking is that they actually frighten the children.

Since the age of 5 when I first saw clowns on TV, I thought they were:

Not funny at all;
Daft;
Pointless;
Boring as Hell;
Slightly creepy.
Kicks and scrums and ruck and roll.....Is all my brain and body need!

Clowns on a black and white telly are never quite the same though.

Clowns are inherently evil.

Ooh, remembering a joke: How do you get a clown off a swing?

Hit him really hard in the face with a shovel.

Clowns: Where do I stand?

Nowhere neqar them if I can help it!
I've never really found traditional clowns funny.
I'm not scared by them, I just don't find them at all funny.

About as funny as Norman Wisdom.

Nuff said.

There is a recognised phobia of clowns that is apparently very popular. Coulrophobia. They are very scary I think, and they often try and drag kids up out of the audience which probably starts the phobia!

Clowns are the scariest thing known to man, and i include my Mrs in that just to show how serious i am...
When I die, I want to go peacefully like my Grandfather did, in his sleep - not screaming, like the passengers in his car.

they are so not funny! We have two "children entertainers" as they like to be called who dress as clowns in lab coats calling themselves dr clown and nurse clown. They visit the lickle kiddies and the ward staff hate them, i bet they end up making the poor kids scared rather then feeling better and the staff are left with wards full of screaming kids.

The only good clown i heard of was doink the clown in wrestling!

Right. Down with clowns.

And in honour of this notion, I've changed my signature to one of the Kinks's best ever lyrics.

And I thought this thread was about the clowns you spend your working time with; you know, the bigger the clown, the better the company car he has....

Sadly, kids today have little idea of the Children Catcher but he used to scare the bejebus outta me! I'm 35 and was recently talking to a 21yr old who, when i made a reference to the long nosed one, replied "who?" i promptly went home and locked myself in a dark room whilst i contemplated my apparent old age. :smt009

From a very early age indeed, I can remember being told that The Bogey Man would get me if I didn't go to bed.

Of course, we have much more advanced ideas now that wouldn't allow such dire threats.

Which is why we've produced a generation of hoody wearing morons.
