Are we sure it's Barnes?? On Planet Rugby yesterday it said the referee was Tony Spreadbury.

I'd much rather have Spreaders - Barnes is completely inconsistent and I'm not sure he will handle the big match that well if things start to kick off a bit. If it's Barnes then I'm glad Dayglo's not playing as he'd be in his ear constantly.

Last time I saw Spreader's reffing a Wasps match on TV Dayglo was mouthing off as normal and Spreaders just turned to him and in his broad west country accent retorted 'Just shut up Lawrence' and walked off - Classic Spreaders.

Glad it's Spreaders, he always takes plenty of stick but it's all in fun and i think he knows it, last time i saw him at WR he was the TMO and had a bit of a joke with the crowd on the terrace as he made his way through the crowd, promptly followed by Brian Moore who was, surprise surprise, filling his face with a meat pie

Unless they've changed it...
The RFU website reckon its W Barnes.

To check for yourself go into the Refereeing section and the weekly appointments list.

According to that Spreaders is ref 4/5 at Saints

I stand ready to be corrected...

According to Radio Leicester, Spreadbury had to pull out due to illness and Barnes was drafted in last minute.
