westy154 sorry to have to tell you this but point three is correct there are numerous reports, research, findings and stats to show Nottingham is the worst place in England for crime and to live.

The Think tank Reform report stated that Nottingham was the most crime-ridden place in England and Wales and also had the highest murder rate.

Nottinghamshire has had Britain's highest crime rate over the past 20 years

Endsleigh insurance found that people living in Nottingham were more than twice as likely than the average household to make a claim for burglary, where the risk is 109% higher than the UK average.

Steve Green, the chief constable of Nottinghamshire Police, admitted his force was "struggling to cope" with the increase in violent crime and suggested it might have to "farm out" murder investigations to other forces

Nottingham voted one of the worst places to live in the whole country by a Channel 4 property programme!

To answer your question, I am, myself, a Yorkshireman by gods grace, a Midlander by parentage. My mams a die hard forest woman, as is my grandfarther. Theyw ehre both there 1979/1980. My dad, is, to my eternal shame, a sheep (Derby fan). I was kinda press ganged intosupporting the Forest by me mam and me granddad and I've had a season ticket for 3 or 4 years until i agev it up last year.

I have also always been a Tigers fan since I was taken to see a Mr D.Richards as a kid. No chocie really. My dad was pritty certiant hat if I wasn't going to support the Rams I'd support the tigers.

There are 3 types of lies. Lies, Damned Lies, and statistics.

You can use statistics to prove anything, 58% of all perople know that.

Alls I know is that I have lived in the heart of the City, a dodgy place to live if you believe the hype, for 6 years now and have never felt threatened or unsafe.

When I travel to Welford Road on the train, I still feel safe walking home. Where do you live by the way? And why do you support Leicester City?

I tell you what, I'd take Nottingham over Leicester any day of the week. Leicester has developed into a right dump recently. Bits of hotels flying all over the place, poverty stricken sporting clubs being unable to afford paltry sums to re-sign their best players. Its terrible.

Im a city fan and a Tigers fan and the situation with City scares me. If Mr Mandaric rediscovers his sanity then the mighty foxes will swap places with Forest and I believe the team will go under. Why does he want City?

It must be the eloquent, intelligent fans. Oh, hang on...

You are joke LCFC! i'm embarresed to be from the same city as you  Although i've always lived in Leicester, Nottingham is a great city. To be honest the more people who support Tigers the better, I don't care where they are from. It just goes to show how succcesful and popular we are and having supporters from other cities should be viewed with a sense of pride.
When I was on my Worldly travels I always said I was from a place near Nottingham as nobody knew where Leicester was!. Heck, most rugby fans in the southern hemisphere have never even heard of Leicester Tigers!.
Lets just keep to the Rugby! also for your information Hackney was voted the worst place to live by channel 4.
So there we have it, i've just defended nottingham I can't believe it!
Remember that you are a Tigers fan,and have consequently won first prize in the lottery of life"

Apologies to other posters but when a fellow poster who is obviously spouting regurgitated ill informed propaganda about Leicester I have to reply, so apologies for this.

“You are joke LCFC! i'm embarresed to be from the same city as you Although i've always lived in Leicester, Nottingham is a great city. “

From your comments I am ashamed that you are from Leicester, although your location does state Lougborough.

I have visited Nottingham on many occasions and can honestly say Leicester has a lot more to offer than Nottingham. What I have seem and read Nottingham appears to be on a downward spiral of decay, mismanagement, crime and deprivation.

Leicester is the largest city in the east midlands and Leicester’s nightlife and entertainment is buzing with a wide choice of theatres, cinemas, nightclubs, restaurants, live music venues and bars, a new 40M performing arts venue is planned to replace the Haymarket Theatre. Nottingham on the other hand seemed to compose of mostly cheap bars selling alcohol as cheaply as possible and fast food restaurants that catered for the nightclubs, there seemed to be no variety of restaurants.

Leicester's central shopping region boasts several different shopping areas, as well as Europe's largest covered market and many streets providing a wealth of different local and national stores. Leicester is continuing to build on its reputation as one of the best shopping destinations in the UK by creating 100,000 square metres of new retail and leisure space. Nottingham on the other hand appears to be going backward with its shops, the centre comprising of cheap pound shops that have constant sales on.

The Good Britain Guide named the National Space Centre ‘National Museum of the Year’. Leicester’s regeneration plans include A science and technology park around the flagship National Space Centre, Plans for the waterfront to include a mix of housing, offices and leisure space based around a new canal basin. There are plans to build a 39 storey 5* hotel, which will be the tallest building in the east midlands.

Along with this Leicester is on one of the most ethnically diverse and fastest growing multicultural cities in the European Union.

One other point I heard somewhere that a Leicester Tiger player is an ambassador for Leicester, ensuring that ill informed people, like yourself, know the real Leicester. It’s a pity you don’t do the same, or perhaps its just that you don’t know much about Leicester.

LCFC you are priceless. I can't work out if you work for the tourist board, Endsleigh Insurance or as an ambassador for the diplomatic side of football.

First of all, you are only here to stir up a bit of controversy whatever you might say about wanting a serious debate, I have seen your previous threads.

Secondly, I live in Nottingham but was born in Leicester so have a foot in both camps. I can tell you neither city is exactly prosperous and there are a lot more thriving areas commerically in the country, but you cannot tell people where they would rather live. That is based on personal opinion and you should respect someone's wish to live in a one-bedroom inner city flat as much as another's wish to occupy a stately home.

Thirdly, no one on here actually cares about any of the above and would rather talk about the treble that Leicester Tigers are on course to win this season. If you would like us to discuss your upcoming relegation battle with Luton at the Walkers Stadium, please post on the general forum.

I know I shouldn't but I just can't help myself.

I am both a Nottingham Forest fan and a Leicester Tigers fan. I admit to being brought up as an ardent Forest fan I had a Forest season ticket for a number of years until this year. I am now a member of Leicester Tigers but unfortunately haven't been able to get to Welford Road this year for a number of reasons.

Four years ago I began working as a teacher in Leicester and 'discovered' rugby. During my schooling rugby was non existent, probably due to Nottingham Rugby Club having a very bad patch. My colleague from work is in a similar position to myself having been brought up in Nottingham but now works, and unlike myself, lives in Leicester. It was through him that I first attended Welford Road and I absolutely loved the atmosphere, the game and the experience all round.

I will and have attended Tigers games instaed of going to my first love Forest on a number of occaisions. There are a number of reasons for this that I will explain now:

You get to watch top class sport played by top class sportsmen. (i'm obviously referring to Tigers)

The atmosphere and camaraderie created by the fans is excellent and completly different to that created by football fans.

You are allowed to stand and have a beer whilst watching the game.

It is cheaper yet better quality!

The club treats you with respect as a supporter. (in my experience)

I'm sure I could go on but would like to retain people's interest.

The comments about the city of Nottingham are clearly inflamatory and designed to wind people up so I won't bother too much with them. All I will say is both city's have what would be described as nice and not so nice areas but if you don't know enough about these areas on a personal level don't comment. Finally don't believe everything you read in the paper or see on the TV LCFC otherwise you will become detactched fom reality even more than you are allready.

I like it when trolls make us laugh, and LCFC is turning into a great one. If only Nabuk hadn't promised to be nice, we could turn him loose on him. :)

Luke, where abouts do you live in Nottingham?

Dave W, I will put that one down to it being only 10AM... I only hope they get better as the days goes on!

Westy154, I live in the city centre. It is absolutely terrible around here for trying to find rugby on a big screen so I end up getting the train back to my parent's house in South Leicestershire to watch games. Rugby is not on the agenda in Nottingham!

It seems from everyones answers people support a team for all sorts of reasons - some have logic some have very little logic - but once you have a loyalty you tend to stick to it. With Rugby it's not quite the Blind "I'm from here you're from there, therefore I want to beat you up because you a different and wear a different coloured shirt" brainless nonsense that you get within your sport. It's more - "I like this team (maybe where I'm from maybe not ) and you like this team let's have a chat about Rugby, oh and by the way would you like a pint as I'm just going to the bar"

For the record - I originally come from Glasgow - I support Partick Thistle (I had one brother who supported Rangers and one who supported Celtic - Partick was left - I think i got a bit of a bum deal - there's logic for you) - I moved to loghborough as a child and supported Nottinham Forest. I started playing Rugby at 11 and was taken to a Tigers match as a child - and have supported them ever since - When I packed up playing properly (other than vets) I got season ticket - I also look out for the Glasgow score and would support them if ever I had a chance to see them - although I did support Tigers on the occasion Glasgow played Tigers in the European cup - By contrast I would always support Scotland over England in spite of having lived here for 38 years but would support England over anyone else except when Wales beat them in 1999 allowing Scotland to win the last 5 nations Championship.

The most passionate support i have ever given to anything though is the British Lions on the 2 tours I have been on - To see Martin Johnston playing in the same team as Tommy Smith and Alan Tait was a joy - To sing Flower of Scotland and Swing Low in the same crowd was incredible - To wear a kilt and a Tigers Shirt was my mark of where I am from but I was happy to have a drink with an Aussie or a Bok.

Loyalty is a strange thing but it should never get in the way of humanity.
