Jonny Wilkinson playing Saturday...

Post by Ads677 »

Just read that Wilko might be fit to play on Saturday. Also just realised that he must have missed most games at WR for ages since I don't recall seeing him here AT ALL! I hope he does play - it will be interesting to see who will be up against him.

Got injured if my memory serves me correctly. Tackle from Harry Ellis? Hope he does play but would expect Flood to start at FH?

Yes, that's right, I'm sure he was just the water boy.

No, it was the same year Harry Ellis collided with him and he had to be taken off.

You have to question his medical advisors though, first game back after injury - Tigers at Welford Road!?!

Talk about being thrown back in at the deep end - poor bloke, that's the end of his Six Nations aspirations then.

Welcome home Jonny, I'm sure you've got a lot to teach Ian Humphries, who under your supervision will be even more outstanding than he already is.

Would be nice to see him run around the pitch again. At last he might MIGHT even play for Enland in the 6N

Maybe this is obvious, but it bears saying.

England need Jonny back again for the balance of '08! They really, really do!

There is clearly a nice crop of FHs coming along in English rugby. The guy I am really impressed with is Ryan Lamb. What impresses me is that, contrary to his name, he is one tough kid. Though not very big, he emulates Jonny in really putting the stick into his tackles.

At the same time, guys like Lamb and Gerraghty and Flood are not ready, I don't think, to carry the weight of the #10 shirt in huge international games.

Meanwhile, Charlie H has not panned out in a way that matches his talent, and he is badly injured. Who knows if he can be ready for the WC?

England's problems at 10 would see an enormous alleviation if Jonny came back. He doesn't even have to match what he did in the past. He just needs to be able to give England a sound, veteran presence.

England's prospects in '07 may depend on whether Jonny can finally be healthy again for an extended run of play. Dang, I hope he can come back and stay back!
Just a Yankee looker-on from afar.

Tom Tom,

JW was Water Boy in Feb 2005, for that 83 - 10 home victory!!

I remember this well, it was my first match at WR for many years, and my husband (no rugby fan) wondered why he bothered to come with me to the match, as we screamed for 100 points!
Johnno is God!!!
