SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL TEAMS

Post by MJ Chairman »

With the start of a new season fast approaching, and Tigers home games not always on Saturday afternoons lets not forget the junior clubs we have here in Leicestershire.
With 1 being in National 3 north and 2 clubs in midlands division 1, apart from countless others in various East Mids and leicestershire leagues , the rugby can be of a good standard, with games being hard fought and often very enjoyable. You will always recieve a warm welcome and the beer tastes good. Give it a try you might enjoy yourselves !!!!!!!!!

I've always thought about taking the 1/2 mile walk up the road to Syston Rugby club to watch a game but these smaller clubs dont do too well at publicising their fixtures, I cant seem to find anything on the web either - guess i could just walk up there :? I bet they'd get loads of locals turning up to see a free game and enjoy a pint if they put some leaflets through doors or something.

For those in NW Leics, Coalville Rugby Club have excellent facilities.

I will be there this Sunday am, helping out with the mini section. (Should get my appetite going before the Sale match !).

Good to see that the 'thriving mini and junior section' cater for 'all' sexes and not just the usual, exclusive big two.

I'll be in Coal hole on Sunday morning - taxi service for the parents to Brum airport (for 6.00 am. Deep joy.). That's gonna leave a whole lot of aniticipation time for the Sale match, I'll probably be a nervous wreck by kick off!

I must admit, we are struggling with our hermaphrodite team. (There has to be a joke in there somewhere ...)

If you are going down to Syston, why not potter a few miles down the road and watch Melton Mowbray RFC, they operate in a higher league (newly promoted) and last year won every single one of their league games. They also won the hero league, a national competiton based on win percentage throughout all of the leagues.

Melton are currently coached by two former players who shook the crumbie, Tom Smith and Glen Gelderbloom !

You see I was trying to reamin anonymous but now Syston and Melton have got their mentions in I have to mention South Leicester. We are newly promoted this season to Midlands division 1 (next step the nationals) and will be playing a good grade of rugby this year. Our first home game is this saturday the 2nd against Derby, a friendly, but they are one of the teams that we beat to promotion from Midlands 2 east last season. Our first home league game is on September 16 against Luton. If you are in the Oadby and Wigston area come along. Further information can be found at www.southleicesterrugby.com

Thats the way to do it MJ. Just a bit of info on the club & a link to the website. No need to put the whole fixture list down. Good luck next season.

Mr MJ Chairman, sir. Your web isn't working yet :(

I think the reason why our friend from Melton posted the fixtures was because their website is not up and running either(but will be soon).
