And that remark is even more offensive and not excused by your upbringing. I strongly recommend that you withdraw it immediately! Preferably by deleting it.

comments about personal relationships may be misjudged and in bad taste.

comments about inferior races certainly are.

potentially unlawful, too of course

my point is that someone capable of such derogatory and potentially offensive comment is in a poor position to set themselves up as an arbiter of what is in good taste or not.

who will say that racism in any form is in good taste?

Guys keep it clean please! Osprey I see your first post as having been a bit of banter, but your second post crossed the line. I have no desire to play referee!

But Iain , dear boy, you are the referee.

If it is OK for you to make the comments you did then clearly Osprey feels he can make similar comments. And he did, in fairness delete the word "perv(ert)" when prompted.

With regard to racism "The Celitic league is an inferior race". Discuss? We have a whole thread discussing this.

Much damage has been done here.

Shame.

Used to be a good forum.

Bill I have literally not long got back in. All I know is that I received a PM from somebody who was offended by what was said, and acted on it. I try to fit this (unpaid) job into my spare time as best I can to do what I can to keep it all appropriate.
I have acted on this occasion with what I am sure are your wishes, yet you wish to point to a previous post that I personally made in jest, no sexual overtures, nothing overly personal (I didn't think). It upset a couple of people, I promise not my intention in the slightest, and I apologise. I try, I really do....

Might I suggest that Osprey initially had a point, in that could all this personal chit chat remain in PM / MSN / text message / carrier pigeon? If you don't want other people to misconstrue what you're saying, then it makes sense to me not to air it in a public forum.

Now lets get back to rugby.

And your efforts are truly appreciated Iain. By me and I am sure also by all forum members.

I totally accept (as I did in PM) that in the previous incident you acted in jest. In this instance Osprey did not act in jest. I am advised that in its unedited form (and yes I have a copy) it could cost Leicester Tigers PLC, Sotic etc a six figure sum. I am tempted to pursue it in order to donate it to the Matt Hampson Trust. Your actual deletion of the line (as opposed to Ospreys editting of it) may just have been in time.

You have posted this in open forum. Hence I have replied in open forum.

Being a moderator is a rotten hard difficult job - I know - I am one!. But standards have to be maintained. And you have to be like Ceasar's wife - beyond reproach.

Go for it - you are gettin there!

And in the immortal words:

KEEP THE FAITH!!
