Rugby clothing
In a cunning mirror thread, I thought I'd give some rugby clothing top tips, for the upcoming season.
I'd appreciate it if people could post any bargains they see or cool clothing. In particular, if anyone see a good pair of boots at a knock-down price, let me know as I'm on the look out for some new boots (my current pair are somewhat rotten).
Top tips on what to wear at what ocassion:
Welford Rd: Any Tigers shirt (duh!)
Twickers: Your club short, not your England shirt, not your Tigers shirt, the shirt of the club you slog your guts out for. Anyone who's done particularly well and has a proper county shirt should wear it with pride.
The Pub: Again, your club shirt, always think about branding and advertising; your club can never have too many players!
Touch rugby in the park: The must-have thing to be seen in is a tour shirt or a training shirt from a big club, but not a massive club. I myself have managed to acquire a rather dashing training shirt from an NPC club (kindly donated from a Kiwi friend who happened to play for that club). The key here is that the shirt has to be fairly well worn. Mine is quite a few years old. Out on the park, everyone knows it's a rugby shirt, the real fanatics know just how good a shirt it is

Also, two t-shirts I may buy should I have the cash:

Although I would've made the second phrase "rage against the machine"
Any t-shirt makers/printers in Leicester doing anything good on an ABC theme?

Good point BJ. I've just gone and ordered one - been meaning to for a while.
While roving around, I also hit the link to this place that does Dennis the Menace rugby shirts. Call me childish, but these I like.

Same with me BJ - I wore it into work once and didn't stop telling people all day about Matt. It's amazing how many people in his home city don't know. Spread the word, folks!
Sorry to hijack your thread Kuzza - how are you keeping these days? Long time since we've heard from you.

my dad went to Ampleforth and they wore black and white stripes. i now have one of his old jerseys, except it's now grey and white from being washed so often!
Donncha O'Callaghan and Bruce Reihana are the best players that ever lived. Don't even bother to argue with me.

Some family recently gave me an Auckland NPC shirt....it's properly ace. When popping along to the local club I feel a fraud wearing their shirt...Ie the one they bleeding for. I generally plump for something a bit obtuse like my Waratahs top (and now my Auckland one) or the Liverpool Hospitalite rugby top I do voluntary work in.
Everton is the dominant species. I am Everton

Funny that. I have various rugby shirts: Tigers, All Blacks, Ireland, Springbocks, England etc.SilensFatuus wrote:I wear my dads old club shirts and referees shirts all the time!
So cozy, down the stables in winter!
Without fail they end up at the stables covered in hay, straw and shavings.
The missus just loves them for mucking out and riding.
Can I get a divorce on these grounds?
Kicks and scrums and ruck and roll.....Is all my brain and body need!

Divorce on the grounds of trying to keep herself warm?! Tut tut kinny!
I resemble a michelin man on winters mornings at the stables. 3 layers of trousers/tights, 6/7 tops/jackets depending on how cold. Then by 10am Im just in a polo t-shirt. Get some strange looks of the clients.
But you just can't beat a rugby shirt :)
