Re: Manu to Racing 92?
I know he needs more experience and nurturing, but as a future prospect ,we have another Tuilagi in the Academy squad.
Or is Fred his agent as well?

I suppose if Manu does leave that will free up 2 squad places as no doubt his nephew will go to Paris with him

From what I’m hearing talks are still in process though.

Good decision by the club not offering more silly money.
Poor decision by the Tuilagi's.

"Sinking ship?" The rest of the idiom is, I think, far too harsh, and doesn't apply. Realistically though, quality players with ambition, want to play for successful clubs. Beware the "floodgates" to use part of another idiom. I don't like negativity, so hope, if correct, this vacancy can be put to good use.Tiger93 wrote: ↑Thu Feb 21, 2019 9:18 am I've heard he's signed for Racing, done deal. Don't shoot the messenger

Re: Manu to Racing 92?
I mentioned to our group after the Racing game before Christmas that I thought Manu would leave for Paris. I thought he seemed far too friendly and joking with the Racing players during the match, for what was a HC competitive game. Since then I have hoped to be proved wrong.
However I am sure I am not alone in thinking we will be fine without him if other things (coaching, recruiting etc) are done properly; one player does not necessarily bring success. Manu has alot of rugby to play before he gets to Racing so hopefully he will arrive fit and well. Given his injury record I wonder if there will be a clause in his contract saying he must arrive back fit from Japan.....and what would he do if he doesn't? Others will know these things better than me I am sure.
ps. even at this hour I would still like him to stay, but like others not at any cost.

Re: Manu to Racing 92?
He is NOWHERE near the class of ANY of his uncles and there are a couple of uncles that weren't that great either, please let me eat my words but I do not ever see young Freddie ever being a regular first choice first team playerwellstiger wrote: ↑Wed Feb 20, 2019 6:53 am I know he needs more experience and nurturing, but as a future prospect ,we have another Tuilagi in the Academy squad.

God created rugby so footballers have heros too
Re: Manu to Racing 92?
If the figures are right £2.5 million over 3 years, good luck to him

Yes - good luck to him - hope he stays fit.
It's a sad moment though.

So both our first choice centres who cost a fortune and we've struggled to keep on the pitch are off.
Personally I see this as a positive on the assumption the available funds are invested wisely.

If you don't go in hard it's not a tackle it's an insult.
