Ayerza somehow smashes through a ruck and charges forward. Boots it downfield where Youngs pressure wins a 5 metre scrum. But the ref penalises us at the scrum for no bind yet again. 3 minutes left.

20-9 final score --- brilliant result considering how poorly we've played recently. Well done boys.

Flood nails a pen with the last kick of the match. 20-9.
10 out of 10 for defence and effort. Attack still rather 1 dimensional.

That's a great result,no bonus point for Ulster was critical so that Ulster have to do the same to us.Gives us a nice platform to build on.

A hard fought win, which makes a change. Good to see the dog is back in the side. Defences on top and we grind out the win. Good to see Youngs back and looking sprightly. He just adds a touch of class which Harrison is a little shy of just yet. Crucial to deny Ulster a point. Gives us plenty to fight for in this pool.

Great win. Defense was really good, which is the probably the first time all season we can say that. It was all a bit 50-50 so we did well to deny them the bonus point and i think Youngs added a bit more of a threat in attack as well. Forsyth getting injured did not help our attacking performance and it is a good job we will have 12trees back next week. All in all a well contested game with good reffing.

Great win,and a great atmosphere. :smt023

Good to see Ben Youngs his old self,he looked pretty sharp and fit.Didn't look to good for Parling, lets just hope it isn't serious.

Agree about Youngs but lets not take anything away from Harrison he didnt put a foot or a pass wrong. Why did we buy Mickey Young without giving this lad a go?

Not at all. Harrison looks a very reliable player. He doesn't have the threat about him yet though. Maybe he will develop it as he grows in confidence. Deserves to keep the bench slot for now.

As for your question, I guess we didn't really know how Harrison would react to stepping up, or the fact that Youngs will be missing for international periods, or due to Grindal (I think) being out of contract this summer and we wanted to grab a good deal from Newcastle whilst we can?

Good result, but yet again sterile in the backs, AT so predictable and kicking possession away.
Think we will struggle in France and at Ravenhill.

Cockers said post match that Parling is ok. Tweaked his knee, could be out for a week or two, but has nothing to do with his previous injury. Forsyth however has broken a bone. Lengthy lay off likely. Centre are all cursed apart from Smithy, who just keeps working hard.

Billy expected back next week, and Manu set for the Clermont double header! Pheew!
