Seemingly heading rapidly toward senility .....Not long or far to go now , in fact, getting worse daily.....
Re: Formerly of this parish
Interesting stat in the article regarding Exeter about table position and number of tries conceded. Looks like you cannot just score more than the opposition. You need to limit them scoring too. Singling out Salvi seems harsh to me. I hope he finds another rugby roles or focussed on his building business. Stepping across into coaching at the same club you played for does have risks. Even going away and coming back arguably too soon has risks too.
Re: Formerly of this parish
Interesting that Baxter says they will fight very hard to avoid "bumbling along the bottom for 10 years" before having a reset, like other clubs have done, yet ironically Baxter/Exeter don't seem to have learnt the lesson of Tigers who stuck with the same old people at the top as the club "bumbled along at the bottom" for years, then shot back up with a big injection of new faces and new ideas.
Doesn't look to me that defence is their problem. Only Tigers and Sarries have conceded fewer tries per match. However, fewest tries scored per match in the top 8...
Perhaps just sacking the last person in is not the solution, when his part of the game seems to be functioning fairly well. I wonder if this will be Baxter's (and Exeter's) downfall - a refusal to change people who have been there a long time and the consequential lack of new ideas.

Re: Formerly of this parish
The playing of Slade at 10 almost smacked of desperation for me, although I do rate Slade.
They have been the same side since White left, and other competing teams now have big back rowers to match the likes of Ewers and Kirsten. Put this alongside an average front row, without Cowan Dickie, and a rebuild is required sooner rather than later

I think we and a number of other sporting clubs have seen it before, there is nothing inherently wrong and sometimes a change is needed just to frehen up ideas and thinking as things get stale and players do not respond as well to hearing the same voice year after year. Not a criticism but maybe Baxter has reached the end of his natural life at Exeter (please let this be the case and he goes to England and they leave SB and is team alone).

Re: Formerly of this parish
from what I can gather, Baxter's future may depend on those who invest via Rowe Snr and Jnr. There were lots of grumblings last year apparently.GB72 wrote: ↑Fri Apr 29, 2022 11:53 am I think we and a number of other sporting clubs have seen it before, there is nothing inherently wrong and sometimes a change is needed just to frehen up ideas and thinking as things get stale and players do not respond as well to hearing the same voice year after year. Wasn't that part of our problem - we had versatile back rows and locks rather than specialists. Who, of our current starting line up would he oust?Hot_Charlie wrote: ↑Wed Sep 23, 2020 2:24 pmIndeed.jgriffin wrote: ↑Wed Sep 23, 2020 1:10 pmlonglivethecrumbie will be pleased!Hot_Charlie wrote: ↑Wed Sep 23, 2020 10:41 am And Lochy M started for the Brumbies as they won Super Rugby Au
Worst MOC side effect was losing McCaffrey. Let’s just get rid of our most consistent player and versatile back row.
