IMO, I believe it is Alex King that has rejuvenated the Saints. GN (IMO) hasn't done diddly squat. Elliott is far better.barwelltiger wrote:Exactly but look at stains and how George North has rejuvenated themfleabane wrote:Big signings generally means players who get international call-ups and who miss a third of the season, often coming back injured.
Why do we want them?

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread 2013/2014 Season
I'd hate to see us splash significant money on an enforcer when Slater is a great fit there or possibly at 8. Cain and de Chaves are both great 18 stone plus lumps of men who are mobile and aggressive. Behind them is the 6 foot 9 Price who isn't afraid to get stuck in and Wells who will comfortably play lock or 6 and is great tackling, rucking and mauling. Why discount these young talents and force them out the club by denying them game time. Even minus Deacon we have Slater, Kitchener and Parling It's not like we're short on talent.
Agree with whoever said Colin Slade. Quality 10 who is still in his mid twenties but has had terrible luck. He's returned to the Crusaders whilst Carter is on sabbatical but would be available after the end of the Super 15 season.

Forget Halfpenny - Carter would be fantasy rugby...Dan Carter would be a dream signing
Out of interest... who do Tigers fans think has been our biggest ever signing (in terms of stature in the game at the time the signature dried on the contract?)...

With little thought I would say either Mauger or maybe StranskyMrPartridge wrote:Forget Halfpenny - Carter would be fantasy rugby...Dan Carter would be a dream signing

Stransky, a league above Mauger IMO
Re: Transfer Rumours Thread 2013/2014 Season
Maybe but Mauger had a fair few All Blacks caps to his name when he came to us so it was a pretty big signing, Also Mat Tait and Pat Howard were both established internationals when they joinedTiger_in_Birmingham wrote:Stransky, a league above Mauger IMO

Hear an argument for Pat Howard, but largely on his performance as a coach.kpj tiger wrote:Maybe but Mauger had a fair few All Blacks caps to his name when he came to us so it was a pretty big signing, Also Mat Tait and Pat Howard were both established internationals when they joinedTiger_in_Birmingham wrote:Stransky, a league above Mauger IMO
Stransky won us many games as a player. He had a super boot, an unerring understanding of geometry and wonderful hands.
Still keeping the faith!

Watching Peter Tom on Martin Clunes ''British Islands'' last night , it said.....''He bought Leicester Tigers''..
As one of my businesses is in Supercars, he obviously doesnt mind losing shedloads as the two(ultra expensive) cars on his drive depreciate quicker than you can drink a pint in the ABC. And they were exactly the same cars footballers Ferdinand/Terry/ Beckham have been seen in......
If he was in Soccer the fans would be expecting 'him ' to buy some real quality, not dozens of admittedly pretty good journeymen..
Come on Peter !!!! ....redistribute your wealth, tax deductible, to a good cause and we can call the new No 10 Tom Carter!!

Talking of out of favor fly halves, apparently Trinh-Duc is out of contract at Montpellier and he isn't getting picked for France at the moment, although he wouldn't come cheap at all and Montpellier is his home team too
Re: Transfer Rumours Thread 2013/2014 Season
I see that Tom Court is being reported as leaving Ulster at the end of the season on the Sky website. Apparently, he is going to an unnamed Premiership club...I am not convinced that Tigers would be interested...
