Yeah I really should have read that back before posting it. Wasn't the point I was trying to make. I was thinking more that there's no established second row combinations and more just Itoje and whomever was flavour of the month.Rugbygramps wrote: ↑Thu Jul 27, 2023 9:38 amI think it maybe too late for Chessum unfortunately. A lot of pundits seem to feel Martin is pretty much nailed on.sam16111986 wrote: ↑Thu Jul 27, 2023 7:44 amMy guess would be that Steve will take one of Chessum and Martin. Could go both but in a squad lacking time together the experience of Ribbans and Hill will probably be seen as useful.Rugbygramps wrote: ↑Wed Jul 26, 2023 12:53 pm I hope Henderson gets a call up, his issue could be that a World Cup isn’t the environment for developing players. We know he is good enough but his lack of test experience may count against him.
I can foresee a situation where both Ollie Chessum and Henderson are back with the club in September
Henderson has an outside chance at selection but he needs to wow in the friendlies or get some help via an injury to another lock.
Bit confused by your comment of a squad lacking time together when they have training constantly together for the month of July
If Chessum doesn't make it back then Martin probably will be nailed on. Versatility plus his form towards the end of the season should at least get him a foot in the door and game time in the friendly to try and claim the shirt.
