Dan McKellar has resigned from the Wallabies so will be joining for preseason if not before by the sounds of it.

Looks like Petrus du Plessis will be coming with Dan as scrum coach. He’s very highly thought of and prob means Harrison will be off to England. Interesting to see who comes in to fire the backs up…

Petrus posted on Instagram about moving house 19hrs ago, if he is coming to the tigers then another very good bit of coaching recruitment.

After meeting with Eddie, I made the difficult decision to resign from the role and explore my business interests outside of Rugby.

"I'm looking forward to spending more time with my family and I'd like to wish Eddie and the team all the best for the 2023 season."

Hardly conducive with a HC role on the other side of the world lol

I don't pretend to know much about this guy but of all the suggestions made I made only decisions about what I did not want.
I did not want anyone not available until after the World Cup, I wanted someone able to familiarise himself with our squad before they departed for that competition. I did not want anyone prepared to jump ship from their current contract mid season or mid competition. I did not want someone to whom we are.just a couple of years step on the way to a bigger job. I want someone for the long haul.
If McKellar fits that criteria then I am happy especially.if he retains our existing Tiger's produced coaching staff as part of his team.

So it's confirmed he's left Australia immediately. Also confirmed he's officially joining us 1st July.

I suspect plenty of time to move family and settle has been given. Will be interesting if we see him at all at Oval park consulting beforehand
Used to run around with an 11, 14 or 15 on my back.

So, we have a long term Head Coach.

Let's look at his support staff.

Currently in place
Matt Everard
Matt Smith
Brett Deacon
Tom Harrison*

*rumoured in contention to replace Cockers at England as scrum coach

Got to say the fact McKellar has left Australia at exactly the same time as Australia scrum coach Petrus du Plessis (credited along with McKellar for the Aus revival in their scrum) does hint at a possible replacement for Harrison, but 2+2 does not always equal 5.

I think Everard or similar is key to support McKellar as we need a senior support coach who knows the Northern Hemisphere game to support
