Vunipola junior at fly half??!!
You have to be joking, he is Championship standard at best. On a par with Atkinson and Mallender,

A coincidence that Farrell leaves in the same year as the Vunipolas? I imagine their last contract on relegation was lucrative, unrepeatable and now expired
In my defence, I was left unsupervised….

Makes you wonder how he kept his place on the books.

Because he hasn't developed as hoped and so Sarries have brought in Louis Johnson who's about four years younger to be understudy to Fergus Burke who is the same age as Vunipola.TigerFeetSteve wrote: ↑Tue May 14, 2024 6:34 pmExactly, Shillcock probably gets the 22 spot with his versatility even if Vunipola starts when Pollard is away. So if he's happy being that fill in then I'd take him. Question is why's he looking leave Sarries, if it's because he's upset at not being given the shot at the 10 shirt now Farrell is leaving then he may overlook us for somewhere he can startAViewFromLe2 wrote: ↑Tue May 14, 2024 6:22 pmIf we were looking for a starter, I’d agree with you. But as a second if not third choice? I’d say he would be a decent candidate for what we are after.sam16111986 wrote: ↑Tue May 14, 2024 6:20 pm
He's 24 and made 79 appearances for Sarries with 49 starts. Hasn't made much impression.
I suspect he'll got and play ProD2 rugby over in France.
I rate the already mentioned George Barton more highly, he's certainly a better goal kicker. Dan Jones is leaving the Scarlets and would provide an experienced back up.

Farrell leaving is more to do with abuse received by him and his family than any contract. He is going to be missed more than we will miss Wiese or Quins Esterhuizen

Yes: like we ‘ve missed George Ford who rarely if ever gives anything but a classy performance.

Off to Doncaster I think.RunTigerRun wrote: ↑Tue May 14, 2024 12:02 pm Morgan Bunting a 10, is leaving Nottingham at the end of the season. EQP and will likely have been involved in the past with some of our training - I wonder if he is the sort of backup 10 we are looking at?

I’d possibly take a punt on Josh Thomas off that list? Josh Barton also looked decent when I’ve seen him play.TigerFeetSteve wrote: ↑Wed May 15, 2024 10:14 am Moroni officially confirmed as leaving Falcons now

Tom Penny not signed a new deal with them also he would be a good one to snipe from Dimes

I rate Wacokecoke too. He consistently impressed me when he broke through in '20/21 and '21/22. Then he's struggled for game time the last couple of seasons. There's a decent 13 there for someone though. If Tigers are signing Moroni then he'd probably be surplus here.
Rory Jennings is an odd one. LI were getting a lot of value from him as either a 10 or 12. A quick look at his Linkedin shows that he's just started working in real estate part time alongside rugby. Ealing? It would seem a likely fit.

Didn't Tom Penney have a stint at Harlequins but returned home. He is certainly a good club player but I don't see how he would improve our team. I want to see us signing either established quality first teamers or young players that we can improve not bulk standard club players that block the development of younger talent.

I disagree. For me this would be horses for courses. Moroni is one of the best defensive centres in the world IMHO, but I think Perese is better in attack... In any case, we need more than 2 or 3 centres in the squad due to potential injuries.
Moroni also plays on the wing (also for Argentina.)

Haven't seen anything on where Sam James may end up.
Centre, fly half and full back - 29 yrs old.
Solid, flexile player.
Could do worse unless one or both of the academy lads are going to be meaningfully transitioned in next season.
