Marler was an idiot giving away that penalty by clicking his oppo on the head …commentary team said nothing anyone else would be slaughtered…it was moronic !
I described him a few years ago as a dim thug with a stupid haircut. My opinion hasn't chnaged.
Tigers for the premiership and European Cup. Get behind the team and make some noise!!

He’s certainly not a thug, and neither is he dim - on the contrary he is one of the most engaging and insightful players in the game. Anyone who has listened to him in interviews would appreciate this, and welcome the fact that he doesn’t stick to the Press Officer-scripted inanities that you hear from the vast majority of players. For this he’s up there as one of my favourite players of the modern era, and rugby will be all the poorer when he retires in the not too distant future.

His wind up effort on Sunday backfired badly - there’s no denying that - but over the years he’s made it a very successful part of his repertoire. More often than not he is successful in getting one over the opposition.

He plays the part of the pantomime villain very well. When he concentrates on his rugby he is still a very good player and I’m sure will have helped develop Finn Baxter

Marler is indeed an intelligent man, but he gets a bit too carried away at times with the "rugby banter" and his self created wind up merchant persona.

It might work occasionally, but this is far from the first time that he, and his teammates, have seen it backfire catastrophically.

The head skap was poorly judged and had zero chance of working as intended.

Plenty of other mistakes from Quins though, not least Marcus Smith's equally poorly judged attempt to single handedly overpower the Toulouse 6 at a ruck, leaving a big gap in the defense for the French to stroll through on the way to another soft try. One of Smith's biggest remaining weaknesses, like Farrell, is this need to prove how tough he is.

Always thought it was Sarra Elgan (or Elgan Easterby)

Double R accounting for the extended pronunciation.
