I think the league is definitely more competitive having sadly been reduced to 10 teams. But that isn’t surprising given that plenty of talent from LI, Wasps and Worcester bolstered other teams strength in depth.
But he’s right about the traditional rivalries, especially us and Saints. Home this season was lacklustre from both teams and Saints putting out a weakened team at home says it all really. The fire and intensity just hasn’t been there this season. Always thought Tom Youngs and Dylan Hartley both understood what it was all about.

I thought some time ago that the players were not wholly buying in to this rivalry. In the modern game the rival may be the club you have just left or are about to go to; for some of the overseas players, although they may understand the concept, it cannot be a deep feeling in that particular circumstance.
