I agree - we have talented, international players in our backline. But we have a malfunctioning system.
Our double WC winner barely makes an imprint on games.
Kelly and OHC have gone from international recognition to a prolonged struggle for form.
The master of the skies, Fred, has lost his Eng place.
And outside of the Prem Cup, not a single young player has even made the bench (the nearly 23yo Cokanasiga is the closest to 'young').
I believe we have the talent, but we are not organised in a way to get the most from them.
Agree with most of this, but Carnduff, Ilione and Vanes have all been involved in Europe and/or Prem (not a lot to be fair).
FTT as well.
Doesn't help that Chessum Jnr has been injured for a chunk of the season when otherwise he might have had game time at lock.
McKellar knows him from the Brumbies. Hewat has got a fair coaching CV by the looks of things and knows the Prem from his playing days. All makes sense.

Am I right in thinking we’ve statistically had the best defence this season?
We have conceded 334 points thus far which is the lowest in the league. Saracens are close behind with 335. Our points scored is where our PD falls down
I would hope with a new attack coach we can build a style to suit the strengths of our players ie: Freddie at 15 etc and enable those players to play to their strengths.

Maybe we'll get some announcements next week now the Hewat rumour has broken. It would otherwise be a quiet week with the European games and would maybe create a bit of buzz before the friendly Vs Georgia.
