Said earlier I think next season we’ll have a better XV on the pitch, mainly down to the Kata / Perese partnership which should be quality.
That being said we’re desperate for a proper attacking structure next season. We’re going to have to play a much more accurate game and won’t be able to rely on just brute force and Wiese getting us over the gainline. Martin and Chessum have shown for England they’re both good carriers. But can’t have them running into brick walls for 80 mins.

It wouldn't surprise me if the plan was for Kata to play 14 and Perese down the middle. If Dan Kelly can find some of his best form he fills that second distributor role brilliantly.OakhamTiger32 wrote: ↑Tue Mar 19, 2024 1:46 pm Shaping up nicely for some attacking expansive rugby:
1. Smith (age 29)
2. Montoya (age 30)
3. Cole (age 36)
4. Martin (age 22)
5. Chessum (age 23)
6. Liebenberg (age 28)
7. Reffell (age 24)
8. Beets (age 20)
9. JVP (age 22)
10. Pollard (age 30)
11. OHC (age 25)
12. Kata (age 29)
13. Perese (age 26)
14. Watson (age 30)
15. Steward (age 23)
Not sure about Watson so perhaps someone else in the 14 shirt but I am excited about the prospect of this team getting a few games together..
A nice mix of experience in the front row, young dynamic players in the second/back row with international experience thrown in the mix. A very solid half back pairing and a cheeky backs division. I’d say if Watson is going and we can get a pacey winger to wear 14 we are looking in very good shape. Dan Kelly will almost certainly be in the mix if not starting but I’m looking forward to seeing Kara/Perese getting a run out!

Posh Richard has texted in. Still gloating from the cup victory......apparently we've got corned beef?

One thing I am a little surprised by is that Beets was a solo announcement. We usually like to store up good news & release in a little run. Especially for players who are quite low profile.
Goooooodeeeeeyyyyy!

Guessing it may have been something to do with it being all over the Telegraph. Certainly seemed like a rushed announcement.

Think someone mentioned earlier Tigers announcement seemed to be a reaction to the news coming out in the press. They probably didn't want to announce it at that point but were forced....
Edit: beaten to it.

Possibly because it was part of an article in the national press the previous day

However that article saying we had signed him also listed two other names that we'd signed
Used to run around with an 11, 14 or 15 on my back.

All guess work of course but the other 2 names had been mentioned elsewhere Beets hadn’t
