I’ll bite too, let’s get a few League players rucking, mauling and scrummaging and see if it’s less demanding! Faster? Maybe? Boring? Definitely! All good fun of course, welcome and Merry Christmas!

Wasn't League actually created for a professional environment to actually reduce injuries, ie the softer version?! (haha in jest)

Listening to the Rolling Maul pod this morning it seems Hassell-Collins was spotted in a moon boot on the Saturday, so can't see him being fit this weekend at all.
Used to run around with an 11, 14 or 15 on my back.

Must players want to be there every week , I realise that the powers that be demand that rep players have to stand down every so offend , but this is just my spin , would love to hear any views .cheers all and have a merry Xmas and a happy new year , go the TIGERS
It is far more accurate to compare Rugby league to American football and they tend to play every week too baring injury

Given the vast majority of NFL player contracts have no guaranteed money and little in the way of injury guarantees, most players cannot really afford to spend too much time out as it is a pretty ruthless situation around player contracts in that league.

OHC has already played 11 games for us this season and played more than 20 in each of the last four seasons for Irish. Not what I'd call injury prone.

Just my perception then he appears to have missed a few, maybe it’s just the odd 1

or that you're perception/memory is wrong and not playing the occasional match is down to rotation

Yeah my error don’t know where I got that from. Don’t know about the PRC but he has only missed Quins and Stade since

They just fall down with the ball and all their mates just run back into position, you cant take the ball off them, its a bit like slightly rougher touch rugby. :smt005

All things being equal though, but taking into account the greater physicality of union, it still makes me laugh when we get "Hanro needs a rest", when we have no clue a) how he's feeling b) what his training load is and c) all the recovery/other aspects of physio assistance etc.

Totally agree, there are specialists at the club who will have the data for when he needs time off. Doubt any of them post on here

+1

He always looks shattered at the end of the match, but that's kind of the aim, isn't it? If you're still bouncing around like the duracell bunny at the final whistle, you probably haven't been working hard enough.

Especially with fewer games this season, where he is effectively getting 4 extra rest weeks compared to last season. Did he need to be rested for more than 4 league/euro games last season?

Really no way we can tell who needs a rest just from watching matches - but I'm not saying there's no point speculating.
