Moroni also missed the tackle that led to Falcons first try

Well no but he cost his side 5 points. Doesn’t it count if he’s not in possession.

My error tackle missed for Chiefs try

Falcons picking up some injuries to key players.

Interesting for me anyway that Falcons on top in the scrum, before today Exeter have been going well.
Adds credibility to comments re Gloucester scrum on artificial turf

Yes I saw he missed the tackle and that was disappointing …I was merely commenting on how entertaining they are “in possession”
I am shocked how heavy Painter has become

He’s a heavy citizen isn’t he. Baxter is bigging him up constantly

He’s almost static in the open and as you rightly say Falcons seem to have a slight edge in the scrum ..

Even Phil Keith-Roach, who knows a thing or two about front row play, was bigging him up in the Times last Wednesday.

Painter is not young remember, 25 already. Raging Bull was only 2 years older and an established international when he won the World Cup.

Interesting video appeared on social media. Farrell mentions to Luke Pearce that Bristol have given 3 maul penalties away, as most captains would, to which Pearce counters yes I can count.
Farrell then says to Pearce don’t be rude to me, you can’t be rude to me.

I have sympathy for Farrell on this occasion, he was only carrying out his role as skipper and imo Pearce overstepped the mark

Isn't young but could quite feasibly still be playing in ten years time. Tightheads tend to hit their stride around 25 so it makes sense he's starting to come into his own. Moving away from Saints is exactly what he needed, the scrum coach at Saints isn't exactly top drawer and their style of rugby doesn't really suit him.

Painter is going to suit a side that is perfectly happy for their tighthead to work in the tight. Only carry around the fringes for a quick recycle or close to the line to barge over. Clear rucks, drive mauls, defend at guard and then do the business at scrum time. He could have a good club career doing that, will it be enough for an international career? Possibly, if he's able to reload into the line quickly and take good club scrummaging to the next level. After Dan Cole England don't have another tighthead who's going to be around at the next world cup you'd back to do the business at the scrum Vs the best.

I'm sure Farrell has said worse to Pearce over the years.

I expect that Pearce, in hindsight, would wish he had phrased it slightly differently, but I doubt Farrell is bothered by it.

I wonder how many times Farrell was in Pearce's ear before he snapped back?
